Do these U Joints break easily. If so would shortening consist help? The new F3 has different design not made in China (so the add says)

I don't know about the E7, but both of my F7B's had drive shaft problems that appeared soon after they were in use on my layout. I was able to fix one by re-inserting the pin, but I had to send the other one out for repair.
However . . . I now use those units quite a lot and they have been free of any problems.
Hi Joe, i have had to replace the u-joint shaft on my set of E7's twice. After the second time I shortened my consists
and have not had the problem since . 3rd rail replaced the shaft for me. Good luck, Mike
