Last year I bought the BNSF RTR set with 3 stack cars and Imperial SD70ace.  I promptly traded the loco to someone for a used Premier.

After resetting a PS2 loco to factory defaults at my local DCS demonstrator dealer, I took it home and tried to run it with the remote commander from my RTR set.  No response, so I gave up.

I just got a brand new PS3 ES44AC from MTH.  Hooked up the remote commander again.  No response from this engine either.  Doesn't start up or anything.

I know the remote works because the light on the receiver flashes every time I press a button on the remote.

I am assuming the receiver is bad, and I am ready to throw the whole thing in the trash.

Anything else to try before I do that?

Martin - you say you have "ALL Premiere locos".  It would be very much worth your while (IMO) to spring for a full DCS set (used is OK) and really enjoy those locos! DCS offers a lot of 'fun' in operating your trains, even if your layout is not too large.  The control over the sounds, the features, being able to track mileage and hours on the engines as well as adding your own voice and music greatly enhances your enjoyment I've found. If you have kids, they pick up on it right away and can teach YOU how to use it!

I just got my DCS and have a small layout but I'll say I'm already really liking the full DCS system.  I had a DCS Commander but it just didn't want to work with my premier loco.  With the full DCS it made all the difference.

You are running 2-rail correct? If not bring some 3-rail track and we can use that.  Let me know!

Yes I have all Premier ps2 and ps3 locos.  I think its just a matter of time before I take the full DCS plunge.  I think I would rather buy that new, even though half of my locos were bought used.  It just seems like sensitive electronics like the remote and TIU, etc are best bought from a reputable dealer.  Not worth saving $50, given the potential for headache.

Yes, my new ES44AC is the 2-rail, and so is some of my rolling stock, though I straddle the world of 2-rail and high-rail.

I'll email you soon!

Thanks, guys,

Martin
