Can you have a bad channel in a TIU ? I'm using Lionel 180 bricks for power on three channels, fixed 1 and variable 1 and 2. When I plug into fixed  2 it pops the breaker on the brick. The other 3 channels work fine. What do I need to do. The TIU is 6.1 and the 2 variable channels are set to fixed.

Thanks in advance,

Hobo

Good afternoon everyone. I can use some assistance.

My layout:

three loops using fastrack (approx 8X12)

using three Lionel power bricks (180), one for each loop

DCS. I updated all software, so it is current.

Being somewhat electrical challenged, I did connect the power bricks to the TIU IN (fixed and variable) and then to the terminal block, MTH 50-1024. Connected the tracks to the terminal block.

I did post on the wiring boards and since my layout is not that large it was suggested I do not need to "star wire" the layout.  I have to say everything was going well, DCS, running three trains on each loop. Then this morning everything stopped.

I have the fixed IN #1 working but fixed #2 and var #1 is not. I followed the directions in Barry's book re testing various TIU connections. All failed, except for the one loop working fixed #1.

I feel the two other TIU ports are blown. I do heard a humming sound  from the TIU and I am sure that should not be. I am not sure if I have REV L. The tab under the TIU indicates REV I3.

Based on the above, an suggestions ? It appears I need a new TIU.

Thank you all in advance
