Sorry but I can't find the original thread but some of you might remember I purchased a brand new Weaver engine direct from Weaver at the April York show.  Right off the bat is was having issues with TMCC signal reception.   Being a brass engine the tender shell is the TMCC antenna, the tender frame is insulated from the trucks/wheels.  On the bench I could not find any shorts to ground but on the track I continued to have intermittent signal issues.  Engine wouldn't respond to commands, loss of chuffing as the engine kept losing signal, blinking headlight, etc, etc.

Well since I couldn't find the short I decided to use an old trick when one installs TMCC in a brass engine for the first time.  Use electrical tape to insulate the frame from the shell and use nylon screws.  Eureka engine works normally.

The only thing I need is those very nylon screws as the tender shell is not permanently attached to the frame.  I've ask HighrailJohn this before but where is a good place to get plastic screws and what's your best guess on the size most often used in a brass engine?

Another note I just got done installing a super chuffer board.

Thanks Bob, I know that I've used both sizes in brass locomotives, didn't remember which fits what.  I also use Kapton tape to insulate the tender shell, it's much thinner than electrical tape and tends to be a bit more rugged as well.  I find that electrical tape sometimes increases the size enough to make things a tight fit as well.  Kapton tape is the stuff that's used in Aerospace applications to insulate stuff, it has to be pretty tough.
