To paint or not to paint

You did a great job on that engine.  You have to paint those coaches to bring it all together.

Thanks for the input! This is the first locomotive I've painted, needless to say I'm glad it turned out well.

I have to agree, you did a great job painting your 259e, you need to paint your 607's to match it! It'll be a nice looking passenger train, Jason!

Paint 'em!  As Diverging Clear said, "It'll be a nice looking passenger train."

Based on how great the engine came out, there is no question in my mind.  Paint the passenger cars!

No reason not to paint these cars. Neat engine paint by the way

I'd strip 'em and paint 'em.

This would be a fun and rewarding project.

Definitely strip and paint the passenger cars. You should also soak them in EvapoRust before repainting them. That will kill any rust so that it doesn't eventually eat through your new paint. The reason I say repaint is because you are good at it, and the cars will be worth the same or more with a repaint.

I repainted three 259e engines. Two are matching and I can double head them. I don't own the passenger cars. They are a good selection to be creative with, since they are easier to acquire than the high-end 260's and 263's.

Jason I would paint them. You did a great job on the 259. The passenger cars require the same level of love shown to them. I’m sure seeing the complete set running in the same colors will give you satisfaction.

If you can come up with a reason not to paint 'em (that loco looks great), let me know ... I'm always on the lookout for otherwise unimaginable ways of saying No to the missus!

Done! Sort of...

I think I am happy with the paint job, I just finished assembling the cars this evening ( I need to go back and fold over a few more tabs, oops). I was waiting on some decals I ordered for the cars. When I took the cars apart, I removed what was left of the interior lighting and I haven't reinstalled it yet. Once again, I'm going to solicit your opinions. I'm thinking of lighting the cars with LED strip lights inside the car roofs. What do you guys/gals think? I'm sure that I could make the old bulbs work again, but I like the idea of building some bridge rectifiers with added capacitance to get nice, smooth lighting from the one pick up roller that each passenger car has.

The paint jobs look good to me.

What can I say.........just brilliant Jason!!!!! You have turned a "soars ear into a silk purse". You certainly have a talent, and those decals just make it a finished job. Go with the LED strip lighting in the cars....you won't be disappointed.
