The Storm Prediction Center has stated a Outbreak will be ongoing in the Plains. I am aware that there are several very important railroad lines in the area.

Any tidbits on how these railroads deal with the bad weather in general? I know in my area if a certain amount of inches of rain falls there are several trestles that usually fillup and then wash out complete through and through. UP does not fool around with replacement and damage repair. It's usually up and running again with a huge amount of ballast and work engines by the dozen.

For those of you in the area today and tomorrow, be safe out there.

Yeah, you are never ready.  Here is a pic of Union Pacific's triple track and the tornado damage done about 4 years ago.  If I recall there were about 90+ cars involved here.  This tornado came right through Kearney.  North Platte's Bailey Yard (Union Pacific) was hit by a tornado in March.  I think some 30+ cars were turned over.

So today is the day for an eye to the sky in the midwest.
