I have every size of MTH tire I can order, and when I need tires for an engine, I just match up with what I have in the inventory.

John,
The MTH tires I tried on one of my Williams brass engines was too thick and just a tad too wide. The tires on my brass J are very thin, about 1/2 the thickness of the MTH tires. I replaced the 4 with ones that came with the engine but one has already torn off. I may have to get some Bullfrog Snot or RTV.
When my traction tires go I just fill in the grooves with black mastic from the auto parts store.
AZ i did a search on ebay and found somebody that had traction tires for the williams brass engines. Also have anybody tried the williams by bachmann tires for there steam engines they are 24mmX2mm

One trick you can do is to stretch a smaller tire. It's a bit of a struggle, but it makes them thinner. I've found the MTH tires to be a lot thinner than most of the Lionel tires, they're frequently too fat, even for the locomotives they come on!
I'll give that a try.
These 3 Williams engines are 20+ years old, I expect that's a pretty good time for these tires to last.
I wonder if there's any type of metallic epoxy or filler that could be used to fill in the grooves and be hard enough to keep its shape and not wear down?
I've fooled around with several different traction tire replacements, but I was never really happy with the results.
I've never used it yet! I did purchase a bottle of "Frog Snot" from our LHS to use when I have to replace tires on the next go round. I don't even know how a person would get it on the wheels, but it ain't rocket science for sure.
All-in-all the product seemed to be very well thought of from different forum members. So maybe some will read this post, and chime in, giving you a +/- on using the product, and how again, to install it....................................Brandy
