2 Questions.
1) Is anyone familiar with Classic Trains Standard gauge Track? They advertised around 1989-90 and we bought some nice tubular track from them. Possibly made in USA? Are they still around or does anyone else make the track now from that tooling?
2) What is the best new production std gauge tubular track? (with the traditional style and profile) Does anyone use original Lionel tooling for this?

2) USA Track. Period. One you use it, you'll never look at the other guys junk the same way. Lionel tooling is not used anywhere, that I recall.
Yes I like the USA track and that got me thinking about this. Does it have the same profile and tie count as original Lionel (at least as one option)? Any clue what happened to the track Classic Trains made?
Mike.... No clue as to classic trains track. The USA Track profile is the same, I think the tin is a heavier gauge. You can get it with the same number of ties as the original....or with evenly spaced ties.

It is in stock for The track comes in 4 tie or 6 tie straight, 3 tie 1/2 straight or curved, 5 tie full 42" curved, and 7 tie 72" curved. 3 ft. straight is 10 or 13 tie. Hands down USA Track's Standard Gauge track is the BEST! For years it has been the Standard used by most SGMA members whose first President was Kirk Lindvig, owner of USA Track.

Michael, Classic Model Trains listed Standard Gauge track in their catalogs in the 1980's. It was made by KTM.
