I should already know this, but I am building a stub-ended yard with 5 tracks.  Can I simply install a Gargraves magnetic uncoupler on the yard lead track or does each track need its own uncoupler?  I can't remember whether a car will typcially remain uncoupled after passing over the activated uncoupler track such that it can then be pushed into position on the yard track and left there.  As always, I appreciate the great advice I get on the forum.

I find that pushing the uncoupled car causes the coupler to close again. This does not happen all the time, but frequently enough. I find the large O-scale uncouplers to have a range of stiffness, some open and close easily, others stick upon opening and closing. I have an uncoupler as the first straight section of track on each yard track.

You can always try the location you mentioned, and test it out.
