Tonkin also makes some nice tankers but they are a hair small at 1/53.

Clause those are also very nice. Thank you.
We received the CN Dash8 units in the Blue livery. Wanted to shoot some pictures with the refinery as a background.
Looking good.. We need some gas out here. Can you send a unit train of tankers.
Looks great I like those CN blue units Never saw them before
Railking the refinery is still in start up mode so we are not selling YET
Ben thanks. When the CN bought the IC they had 12 leased Dash8's in the lease company's BLUE livery. So CN Bought them and just did a quick LOGO on them and thus we have the CN in Blue. I just got them last week. They had been on order about 18 mo's but worth the wait.

They look like ex Conrail I guess before the leasing company picked them up. Would be nice to have one of them with the GT wet noodle like the box car in the picture

Alan Thanks for your nice remarks.
CP Jim Thank you very much.
Ben that is a very good idea. Maybe I should get my refinery up and running sooner and make some cash and buy 3 more power units and have Jeff Sohn do the GT...I will have to give that some seroius thought...Now lets see do I say to the boss these are late Father's day gifts lol lol
Since I do have some GT Power that idea would fit in NICELY. Just have to deal with the DCS Engine ID so that I can run the CN and GT at the same time!!! I probably need to ask Barry what I need to do about the Engine ID.
GTW Ralph Thank you for your comments. I bet you ALSO like Ben's suggestion!!!

If you know anybody that has the dealer DCS download program you can edit the Name and road number of the engine I bet there is a GT sound file that might work too
Ben, Thanks I think I will call my "LHS" and see if they can do it. If they can then they can fix me up right there and then ship to Jeff to finish off the Project. Jeff is checking on Decals for me today, Thanks again
Popsrr –
Looking at it altogether, with some trains (and buses) included, gives us a better idea of how massive the complex is. It simply is excellent in both in planning (vision) and execution.
Looking forward to more pictures!
Thanks for sharing.

Brian, Thanks....You are right...When we get the lights and Shell signs powered up it will give it yet another dimension. The tracks are just Temps and so when the 3 main loops citcle around the refinery with the White CN Tank Train Cars and the Blasck TT cars of Gatx and NS AND CIBRO all passing around the outside they should look pretty cool also.
I have been thinking that it might be cool to start a thread for "NIGHT" only pictures. It would give us a place to gain more thoughts for the layouts.

Ben, Frank Swafford has made a couple of cuts at a color scjeme for your suggestiom. I think he has done a GREAT JOB on these units.
Really outstanding! All that's needed now is a little James Cagney figure on top of one of the structures yelling " Made it Ma, top of the world!"
K-Liner thank you.
I have always been impressed by the photos you have posted. Is Elliotte City based on a prototype location, or was it named after someone?

Bill, Alan Graziano created the refinery and he names it also. He used part of my name as a surprise to me.
Alan G has finished these tanks for the layout.
A little progress report on the layout. The refinery has about 75% of the lights hooked up now and the Mels dinner is ROCKING ALSO
Wanted to share some pictures with and without room lighting.

The photos are incredible, Bill. This is truly an outstanding model refinery. You should be very proud of this addition to your layout.
Now that is the one realistic looking refinery, with a zillion lights.. You could tell when a unit was installed or retroffited by the color and hue of the lights.
In the late eighties, the use of lights that gave a red hue were installed down in the tank farm. At first glance. it sometimes tricked me into thinking - THERE'S a FIRE down in the tank farm.

Magnificient! I don't believe I could ever "weather" that display with oil, grease and water.
That is one fine looking refinery! The night shots with all the lights on is incredible!
Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the update.
Brian, Thamk you very much. Alan did a great job on the Refinery amd I am VERY VERY HAPPY with his CREATION. It is like a work of ART. Thanks again.
Charlie many thanks,I do REALLY LIKE TO USE A LOT OF LIGHTS. We have been trying different voltages to see what seems to set the right amount of brightness.
Dewey I do not have any plans to weather the Refinery. Thank you for your comments.
Johnny Thank you. I enjoy the night look on the layout. I have a lot of area to try and make some really nice nice looking night views.

Wow! you are a craftsman and that is unbelievable work!
Ben Thank you!!! I am a light nut and Alan did a GREAT JOB with the number and placement of the lights. We have been working with different voltage's to see what looked closer to real life. We used the transformer to vary it from about 8 to 14 volts and I thnk we may settle in on 10 volts. Hope to see more of your refinery also with Tank Cars in the refinery.
Jeff I do feel great about the outcome. Alan did a WONDERFUL JOB on the refinery. Thank you for the nice words.
Marko54 Thanks for the nice words. I was NOT THE CRAFTSMAN on this project. Alan Graziano from New Jersey gets all the credit. He is a trure CREATIVE CRAFTSMAN on used a lot of his TALENT TO CREATE our refinery. Many thanks for your comments, I am sure Alan will read them here also.
