Just saw this thread so I am a little late in adding my condolences.  Bob and I had many conversations especially when I was planning and building my present layout.  Nearly all of my switches and much of my track was purchased from him.  I purchase quite a few of the special run Atlas boxcars and hoppers from Bob and always enjoyed chatting with him.  He had one of those gentle and kind voices to which one is immediately attracted.  I almost never asked how much a product cost since I knew Bob gave us great prices and most importantly, timely and wonderful customer service.  Just last week I was talking to Jeff Dobslaw and asked about Bob.  Neither of us expected this news so soon....  Bob will certainly be missed and without a doubt was one of the best guys in our hobby!!  Prayers go out for him, his family, and his friends....

In my previous post, above, I mention a difficult item to find locally.

I had gotten into PRR's LCL Merchandise Service and then I find out that NYC had their LCL Pacemaker Service, version.

I live in N.Y. and I couldn't find any NYC Pacemaker items, until I tried Bob's AM Hobbies in Pennsylvania.

That's how I got to verbally meet with Bob, via telephone.

He didn't know me, but treated me as a dear friend, rather than a customer.

GOD BLESS HIM,

Ralph

I am also way late in seeing this. I was a customer from the first bell and received most of my Atlas collection from Bob. At the high point, he was the highest volume Atlas O dealer. I saw his label last weekend on a case I was unpacking and thought I should send him an email to see how he was doing. He used to work the Atlas booth at York with Jim Weaver. I sure miss you guys. And Kirk. RIP, Bob.
