I just watched this footage tonight along with watching the Basketball Championship and was going through DDA40X videos on YouTube. Well I seen this. This isn't my video, but I thought I would share it. Even though the sound is dubbed, the scene which starts at 8:58 in the video, that sound of though's SD40-2 motors / 2 EMD 645E3A's, had to have sounded the best diesel unit out there. And there were 3 DDA40X's. That's truly amazing, but it did happen. By far this is the best looking and most powerful single unit I've seen. Plus I got to see one in real life back in June 2015 in Macedonia Ohio which is the video below the top video, which is mine. Thanks.

My video below back on Sunday June 7th, 2016.

Great Video!! Excuse my ignorance, but do you know why was the U.P. DDA40X coupled up to N.S pulling freight or was it just hitching a ride? I thought these were only used for excursion now.

There is only one operational DDA40X, #6936, which is still owned by Union Pacific. That "dead" unit being towed by the NS unit was actually from the St. Louis Museum of Transportation, and NS agreed to give it a cosmetic "touch-up" and complete re-paint as part of a trade agreement between the Roanoke Museum and the St Louis Museum.

To Tom - Number 90, yes I did kind of know it was coming. Long story short, the day before it is was going to leave Conway PA, it had a bad air hose leak and was taken off 35N. Then the following day they put it on 35N, because 35N heads in the direction of the Missouri of Transportation. I was worried if I was going to catch it before the sun went down. I got him in Macedonia which was Sunday June 7th, 2015. Also to help, that DDA40X I got in Macedonia was #6944, not 6936. 6936 operates on Excursion mostly in Cheyenne Wyoming. One thing to note on 6944, is this unit did not have a horn attached to the top and I believe it didn't have a yellow strobe light above the cab. Hot Water is right about the cosmetic restoration. It took about a year before it was finished. Now all I have to do is wait for Conrail E-33 4601 to get done in Altoona.

To: PRRHORSESHOECURVE - I didn't even notice that. But yes, come to think of it, you are right about the covers.
