Just like they do in Paris France.
I read the article. It says the cars were not designed to be exposed to weather, and the cost winterize them would likely be prohibitive. IMHO, that likely makes them worthless for anything but their original purpose.
The article says that one group wants to place them end to end to make a pedestrian walk way, but what about the weather issue? (Maybe the weather issue is overstated)
Paris-style metro with rubber running tires, rail wheels for switching and backup. I remember riding the Montreal Metro in 1967 (during Expo '67) and the tunnels had noticeable rubber-tire odors. Smooth ride, though.

Yes, I remember the Montreal ride - very nice. I suppose the used ones might be in demand if the DIY fallout shelter market picks up again.
Now that I've lived 90 minutes away for 20+ years, I should really pay a visit. I just haven't had the urge I guess...

Mexico City's subway also uses the Paris Metro design rubber tire cars as well.

We took Amtrak to Montreal last year and then rode the subways all over. Nice place!
As for the surplus cars, price is right but shipping is a killer.
