Engine in question is a Lionel 11202. Original headlight is yellow at best. Went to forum sponsor Evans Designs website and they have the 3 mm LED with the bridge rectifier, the correct capacitor, and the resistor.
I'm no electronics expert, but this appears plug and play, correct?
Next question. Holding the LED in place. I've seen tacky wax, clear silicone, hot glue?? Best option??

Is the original lamp base screw or bayonet, if bayonet, theres a replacement led bulb available in any color
One thing you have to consider is the R4LC triac needs to see a load to fire, so an LED frequently doen't work. You have to add a .01uf 50V capacitor directly across the outputs of the R4LC lighting output to ground to get reliable operation.
