I have the 3 Lionel die-cast PP&L coal hoppers with Reddy Kilowatt on them. They're really nice.

But, I can't find any photos of any hoppers that had the figure on them. I know that Reddy was used by other power companies. Seen him on buildings, etc.

Was he actually on any hoppers? Point me to a photo, maybe?

Thanks

Right click the pict, save it. Open in a viewer (Windows pict & fax viewer works) and when it opens, either enlarge it via controls or scroll you wheel....it will blow up larger than you will want it to. Exposes all, Reddy is there to be seen, just like on the model train.

Hi Jim,

Yep.  I have somewhere an article on the PP&L owned H43-clone hoppers and the first series had Reddy Kilowatt. I believe it was a Freight Cars Journal monograph or something by Eric Neubauer.

Of course Lionel put Reddy inside a keystone which doesn't match any in-service pictures that anyone could come up with.   When I sent to Lionel a few years ago I got a snide response back.

IIRC I read an article years ago that PP&L removed them from later cars due to a trademark conflict with the owner of Reddy, which was IIRC the Edison Electric Institute (a trade group).  Maybe a googling will give something more than my feeble memory.
