I have just bought my first set of switches, mth realtrax O31 powered left & right. when I run my weaver 2-8-0 to take the right turnout, half way through the switch sparks fly and trips the breaker on my 750 power brick. the 2-8-0 goes through the lefthand switch fine, my lionel 2-6-0, my weaver GP38-2, my lionel trainmaster all have no problems with the righthand switch.

I also did run it the other way, taking the lefthand switch first and coming out on the righthand and no problems, no sparks, no tripped breaker.

anyone have any Idea'a on what might be the problem.

Hello Pete,

You did not say what happens but I have one of the original 2-8-0s and the pilot truck would jump off the track on some switches. Weaver stated that the original spring was not the correct (too much) tension and they offered the suggestion to shorten the spring by two loops. Later, they added the correct spring to their stock of spare parts and you could obtain one from them if you did not want to cut the original spring.

Hope that this helps.
