Went for $637. Don
Aha! Went for $637 with 13 bidders & 26 bids. THAT's more reasonable for a very nice and somewhat 'rare' and unusual locomotive. A good candidate for a command upgrade with good smoke and sound...
And I look forward to it arriving on my door step this week.
Now, is Weaver the best place to send it for an upgrade?
You did good Ben - Happy Birthday!
Depends which control system you plan to use I guess. PS2 will give you the option of selecting different sound sets and the MTH smoke unit can't be beat.
Congratulations Ben I have been watching to see when you would land the #1380. If you are going with TMCC/RS I would think probably Weaver. Train America Studios did mine back in the day when Mike Reagan was still there. If you go with DCS i am sure many can recommend a installer.
Good price @ $637.
I still need to send off my Weaver PS-4 to have a full upgrade to TMCC and Railsounds.
I would say Gary Schrader, but I understand he is booked well in to the future. He upgrades Kohs models.
My vote would be for JDS Ltd Productions. They did an outstanding job with my N&W K3 PS-2 upgrade.

Ben
I'm going with Weaver to do my upgrade only because the Tennessean was made by Weaver to begin with.
I'm pretty sure they would be more knowledgeable of their own product when it comes to doing an upgrade to the Smoke unit, Sounds and Command system
Here is JDS Ltd Productions example of a Tennessean upgraded. Thoughts?

Search on "Modern Toy Train Parts" they install - and sell - ERR Cruise Commander and Railsounds kits. Ive done a few, and actually intend to order a couple next month.
You could do it yourself...Weaver is a good option, also.
The JDS loco is MTH PS2, is it not? Which command system do you want?
I prefer the friendliness of TMCC/Legacy compatible systems.
My #1380 (Tennessean) is at the top of the list for Command..

I think it looks pretty good. Looks like this locomotive just had a basic PS-2 upgrade. If you keep watching, you'll also see my N&W K3 backing up.I've very pleased with their work.
Keep in mind they also do weathering, steam whistle, Pop-off steam, steam chest blow-down, LED lighting, and a bunch of other neat stuff. The limit is your wallet. My Pennsy turbine is headed to them next.
