Weaver Canadian National Set

I tried to search too but could not come up with anything. The business may noy  be there anymore. In your searches did you try an email to weaver. Maybe they might be able to help you as to your questions............Paul 

Paul, Yes I did email Weaver and their reply to me was that the existing staff didn't know of the set or when it was produced.  I found out through a list Weaver produced and put on the internet.  The address for this list is as follows:

This will take you straight to that list.  Latest production listed is 2006.  This is where I found out when and for who the set was made.  Trail went cold after that.  You would think there would be some history about the firm even if they did go out of business.

Don, that would be appreciated.  When a set is made as good as this one and it was a custom issue, it's nice to know the history behind its creation.

I watched it for about three weeks and couldn't stand it anymore.  I believe there is another one available if you like it.  It was worth every penny.

Bob,

I got a reply from Joe at Weaver, he remembers the set, but not who it was made for or any details about it. He mentioned that someone had contacted them about the set. I thought if anyone would know, it would be Joe. 

Is there possibly a reference to the company you mentioned may be found doing a search?

I know nothing about the set.....other than I may have bid on 50 of them......someone had a bunch of them put back. A good looking set for sure.

Paul, I did an exhaustive search looking for Casey, Inc.  I Googled Canadian businesses, businesses along the great lakes, business in Canada in 1997, etc.  Sooner or later the puzzle will be solved.

 

 

 

Yes, these sets just started showing up and there are a bunch of them out there.  I've counted 15 available for sale to date.  If you bid on fifty of them, you've probably consumed all the excess sets on the market.  They are available at good prices.  Good luck on your bidding.

Bob:  One concern that might be a problem for you is if you use command control, like TMCC, and want to equip that engine with an upgrade kit.  I bought an older Weaver FA set, A and B units and wanted to equip the engine with TMCC.  With that big motor in the center plus the drive shafts and towers, there just wasn't room in the engine to install the old Train America TMCC kit.  I ended up having Weaver re-engine the units with the newer vertical shaft motors and then install TMCC with sound.  it was worth while to me because the engine was painted in a Soo Line, maroon paint job and I knew that Weaver would probably never do that engine again.  Nice engine, now.

How much is this set worth?

I saw a bunch on Ebay recently, I think from Trainz  and I think they averaged a lil over $100 each.

That's definitely a bargain! I assume that the trucks are plastic on the rolling stock? Still a great price.

Has anyone seen the ConRail freight set from Weaver models as well?

Paul, I took that into consideration when I bought the set.  My layout is powered by the ZW-C (I think that's right) which has TMCC PowerMasters built into each circuit.  I can control the track voltage going to each track for non TMCC engines.  I did this so guests could run on my layout.  I also have a Command Base connected for TMCC engines.

 

I was able to purchase the set for $76.  Great value.  Going price on two or three cars comes to about that amount.  The set is a bargain.
