I just noticed on my UP 50' modern boxcar when I place it on Fastrack the clearance between the uncoupler and the center rail is mere millimeters. I am not a huge fan of the "articulated" trucks but the models are fantastic. Is there a standard conversion to lionel or atlas trucks guys are doing? Or is it simpler to removed the uncoupler on all Weaver cars?

Lionel has newly engineered trucks for their Lionscale line of cars (former Weaver). Unfortunately, they aren't available for separate sale yet.
DO NOT GET THE ONES IN THE CURRENT CATALOG. They are a poor fit for Weaver cars, and ride much too high.
Be patient. I wasn't and it cost me dearly!
wow ok thanks for saving me the time and $$$! So lionel got the tooling for the Weaver cars? I love their PS-1s.
You're welcome. Check out Lionel's last couple catalogs, or click on the Lionscale ad at the top of the forum page. Most of the ex Weaver freight cars went to Lionel, however select pieces were acquired by Atlas.
The way I heard was that Lionel got Weaver's American made stuff; PS-1 box cars, all sorts of hoppers, etc...while Atlas picked up Weaver's made in China production; wagon-top box cars. troop cars, TOFC, etc...
Before you look into replacing the truck assembly. Weaver for years has faced a drooping coupler problem with their 2 piece design. Make sure the screw that holds the truck onto the car is tight enough. It doesn't take much to make the coupler hang down. Tighten the screw till you can't rotate the truck. Back it off just enough so that the truck pivots freely. See if the coupler raises up any. Doubt there is an issue with the coupler itself. Try switching out parts from the end that's okay. If you think it could be the coupler. Hit my e mail. I should have a few laying around. I got tired years ago of coupler issues and now run Kadee's on everything.
Weaver truck.
The truck mounted coupler would more than compensate for the #8 hex nut pictured as a spacer. This Mullet River Caboose kit was designed for KD frame mounted couplers. Note the Brass box center beam.
