Just something I am noticing in pics, but is there a reason Canadian Railroads don't spray the weeds along the ROW? Just look at the lines into Montreal Union Station. How do they rail grind without burning everything up?

Huh! I don't think Rail grinding is a yearly event. perhaps once in 20 years. I haven't seen your pics but I suppose it's like everything else, cut backs. At one time section crews used to keep the weeds and brush cut right back to the fence line. Spraying weed killer is probably out of the question now days. Got a pic?
I didn't see the picture, but on railroads that hail a lot of grain what you might see is the result of unintentional seeding with each passing train..........
Its on most railines in the Eastern part of Canada. I wondered if the new weed killer laws had something to do with it. Quebec is very vigilante against pesticides and herbicides.
Could be worse. Here in Colorado if you're talking about weed on the ROW, you may very well be discussing what a passenger is carrying instead of a plant growing on the ground.
