New on the property: Amtrak Lion Chief FT. Poses here after its first run, with a more seasoned Legacy unit. The Lion Chief engineer clearly needs more work with the new control system, as can be seen over on Weekend at the Movies.

Here's a nice photo from an old friend of mine who is not 'into trains' particularly but sent this to me recently. Don't know where it was taken (Rockies in the background?) but it's a favorite of mine. He enjoys working an image to suit him. Click on it to enlarge so you can appreciate the surface textures and subtle color shifts.
A few weeks ago, I posted some images of a highway bridge I was building which carried Pennsylvania state route 35 over the Pennsy at Mifflin PA, circa 1966. I had to repaint the backdrop in this area as I ended up constructing the bridge about 6 inches to the left of where I had originally anticipated it would be placed. (The backdrop was painted over 10 years ago!).
So here are a few shots showing the bridge as it looks now with the revised backdrop. Though there is a bit of work to be done on the superstructure, in this view, it's pretty much finished aside from placement of the railings. They are a precise copy of a type of railing used by the PA Department of highways between around 1963-68 and the stanchions were built by my son Steven using a 3D printer. To avoid damaging them, they won't be installed until all of the scenery around the bridge is completed.
Great eye candy so far. Sneaking this in before I have to get off the computer again, the fun of being a parent.

C.Sam, that looks like a Frisco number plate on the front. Someone on the forum ought to know where Frisco 1351 resides.

Great Job guys, terrific pictures. You gave me some good ideas, I'm starting to rearrange my work room so I can build an around the walls layout. My biggest problem will be figuring out rather to put in a lift out where the door is or a lift-up or drop down. Happy weekend.

The photo is heavily photo-shopped. The engine resides in Colliersville, TN, and there is most certainly NOT a backdrop such as that anywhere near Colliersville, TN.
Picked up a new loco yesterday. MTH has improved their sound on this latest round. I noticed much clearer voices and a deeper bass. Looking forward to getting the Metra cars when they arrive.

You can tell it was enhanced to show what would of been its operating environment, but that's ok. Its still a cool pic.

Peter, Thanks I glad someone enjoys them. As for lighting, room has a big picture type window and just let the sun shine in. Nothing special. Night shots are different but essentially the same. Using natural light, in this case the lights from the street lights and other lighting from the layout. Time of day also effects the natural lighting, in this case was shoot around 9 in the morning and was cloudy outside, some of the video had been shoot a week ago and it was sunny at the time. Looking at it now I only used 2 scenes from the previous weeks video. I like shooting at ground level as it( at least for me) a little more realistic, things I learned from Erik( 2R Forum)and his pics from his clubs layout and modules. . Music, I am a product of having spent most of my active Army career stationed in Germany. (1992--2009) with a 25 mo oversea tour at Ft Hood Tx (Nov 94 thru Feb 97) Returned overseas and was stationed at MacDill AFB until I retired in 2013.

As I posted earlier, I don't know when Christopher started his new layout but I have followed each build and what he gets accomplished in the amount of time from start to finish is amazing. No one does it faster!

We took our close to home trips recently.
First stop was Pine Island. From there we headed to one of our favorite towns in Trenton, FL.

On the way home we spotted this caboose along US19.
Nice NS, been to Pine Island many times years ago.
Where is that caboose on 19? How did I miss that? Looks like the one that was at the Tampa yard entrance on SR-60 in Brandon. Brooksville had a few SCL relics back in the day too.

Steve, That caboose is located about 20 miles north of Crystal River (on southbound side of hwy). I wonder if that is a fairly new display as I do not recall seeing it about a year ago.
