Welcome to the new forum!

These photos are entitled "I hate building benchwork".  After years of no progress on the “mountain area” of my layout, I finally set myself to get this benchwork moving and went from a flat table to a forest of L girders and four levels of track.  I had this plan in mind for years but never could get over the inertia to get it started until a few sleepless days ago.   Still need to finish securing the plywood base, then add homosote (grr) everywhere.  Then maybe I’ll finally have a full circuit of trains…

We're also running the beautiful Atlas GM&O F3 cab unit powered by a pair of RK Rs3's. Please indulge me here as you may have seen some of these before. We are gradually building up our 'regional' RR System of different lines around the SOUTHERN. Hadn't planned it this way but with the GM&O, B&O, and C&O among them; Ohio seems to be the common denominator! My Dad was born & raised there (Cincinnati) so I have this as a memory of him.

With the new forum format it is so easy to post photos now.  It only makes sense to participate in Weekend Photo Fun!  Here is a new to me item I got right before Christmas.  It is a Lionel Southern Crescent PS-4 pacific with TMCC, Odyssey and Railsounds.  This is an incredible engine and it will run on O-31 track.

Next up are Lionel Canadian Pacific F3's and 8 aluminum streamliners acquired from forum member c.sam.  I was impressed that a powered unit with 2 pullmor motors would pull all the cars.

We have just dodged a bullet here in Wine Country.  The effort to try and force an election to repeal the sales tax that funds our light-rail project, failed.  The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) can now start construction.  A $103.3 million contract to rebuild the rail line as far north as Santa Rosa has been awarded.  SMART is now back on track---modern green and white commuter trains should be running late 2014.
