I haven't posted any pics in a while.
Here's some new additions to Linganore Lines. Seeing if photobucket still works.

Dave Allen: Where are the photos you posted taken, great shots.
I couldn't tell you a model but I knew it was a Hammond under those trains when I saw the the drawbars. I have a Hammond Sounder and what I have been told is an Aurora. Neither of those are in the same league as the ones you guys mentioned but they are still neat. The Aurora even has the built in Leslie. Now if i could just play the organ
Now if i could just play the organ
Same here. I have access to a 1928 3/10 Barton Theater organ and still don't know how to play much on it (except for some songs I know from playing piano). Fun instrument though with all it's bells and whistles (literally)
Found one in the archives from this year's Christmas layout.

This discussion about Hammonds/Leslies got me searching. The Hammond Company was separate from Leslie for decades until Leslie was bought by CBS Musical Instruments (also owned Fender.) Hammond bought CBS and now the whole thing is now Hammond-Suzuki. The fun part is that they still make the B3/C3 and appropriate Leslie speakers. My old 910 Leslie appears to have been replaced by a combination of the the 971 with a 525 auxiliary speaker setup. Keyboard Hammond Service used to set up Leslie 122's and 147's with 300-watt systems (like the 971 is now.) I feel like I've tracked down an old friend I haven't seen for 20 years.
Lucia enjoying some of Daddy's trains -
Do you have any photos of your whole layout , overviews? Nice layout!
Here's some random SP shots of my modest and still under construction layout.
Thanks TMack, it's as much fun as you can have in 4x8. I even run more than one train on the same loop by using the ALL ENGINES button on the DCS and watching them zip around full speed chasing each other's tail. Most people wouldn't understand how someone can continue being amused by blowing 4 horns full-blast simultaneously over and over, but it's just FUN! Let's see if I can capture the WHOLE THING (Left side - Right side)
There is a lot of action in that 4 x 8 space Miss. Great detail as well. I love the Ted's Root Beer sign. I have to find the o scale version.
Thanks ClutchGuy! A couple fellas who contributed to the scenery forum quite a bit had a tutorial on making 'ghost billboards'. That was the effect I was going for; now that you put it in my mind, I think I'll have to try adding another one, and really getting it more 'ghostly' faded looking.
Great pictures everyone!

The new Hammond organs and Leslie Speakers are made by a completely different company(Hammond-Suzuki Japan) and are different organs except for name and appearance than the original Hammond organs made in Chicago. They are all digital. Although they sound good, they just don't really have that "gutsy, authentic" HAMMOND sound we all know and love. They don't hold up very well and have all sorts of issues. The new Leslies have a electronic speed control which has a high failure rate the cabinets are particle board.I won't service or work on any of the new instruments as the parts are hard to get.The original B3's/C3's are now pushing 60 years old and just keep on going. They were built so well and over engineered. With proper maintenance they'll keep on going another 50-60 years.Plenty of original Hammond parts are available.I have a 1935 Hammond model "A" S/N #415 from 1935.It's in my brother's living room.It plays and sounds like new!!
A great book on Hammond organs is called "Hammond Organs - Beauty and the B"
By the way-Forum member "Billman" is one of my top suppliers of Hammond parts. Haven't seen him here in a while.
Great photos everyone, had a lot of fun seeing them all!
Chris N&W, I am still trying to convince myself that your photos were not real landscape. Absolutely incredible modeling of those mountains, they are amazingly realistic.
Empire Builder Dave,
Thanks alot. I still have some work to do in the scene below the tracks and ballasting ahead of me.
John Korling,
I'm getting all "?" marks in the photo boxes for your post. I'm guessing maybe it is my browser, though.
I get the same thing, I think the photos aren't there for some reason.
That's weird, I uploaded the pictures on the photo album forum last night, linked them to here and they were fine at the time. I noticed now that the post I made there doesn't seem to exist anymore, I wonder what's up with that? I guess I'll try it again.
John, WHERE did you get that backdrop???
It's awesome! I WANT !
Russell,
I ordered that from Backdrop Warehouse. They have outstanding backdrops, but their website is a navigational nightmare, so I'll spare you the anguish of trying to find it and post a direct link to the specific one I used: http://backdropwarehouse.com/S...tMtHillsGrp.htm#111M.
It's the one called "(Molas Lake) Silverton, Colo"
No this is a roll of paper that I found in a store that supplies stuff for teachers, I have not been able to find it in Montreal, but when i went to Ottawa visiting my mother the mall next door had it
I have one roll left at my son's place with the name of it still on the wrapping, i will try and get him to send me the information off the label and let you know what it is if you want but it is paper and it tears if you let kittens run all over your set up .... let me tell you from experience
Redshift
the paper is by Fadless Paper , product code 0056468 called Clouds
Pacon Corportation at www.pacon.com
I think the reason it might look like material on my set is that I put a plastic on the inside roof first to keep the dust from falling on to the track, it was after that I found the paper so I just tacked it over the plastic, that is why you see waves or bulges my son did not give me the measurements but I think it was 4 feet by 12ft in length each roll did three sections between the roof beams
Robert
John Korling, great looking layout. Love your SP stuff ( of course I'm prejudiced being an old SP guy.) Are those cabooses still available? I have the SP SD45T-2 models from MTH but the red light on front does not work anymore nor the ocillating headlight. Lucky they at least stay on at all. Like your backdrop too. Thanks for posting.
Ray
Ok thank you Robert
