Here's some photos of happenings on the Free State Junction Railway in Patsburg, Md.IMG_0027IMG_0033IMG_0037IMG_0038IMG_2413IMG_2416IMG_2419IMG_2422IMG_2434IMG_2443IMG_2449IMG_2452IMG_2438IMG_2455IMG_2461IMG_2467IMG_2465IMG_2468IMG_2470IMG_2472IMG_2481IMG_2475IMG_2484IMG_2488IMG_2492IMG_2490IMG_2496IMG_2497IMG_2502IMG_2513IMG_2517

Some questions for you Patrick..........

What brand of dockside is that?   It seems to be your favorite.

And what brand are the trailers we see?

Thanks,

Lou N

Lou - the dockside is an MTH that I weathered.  The short trailers ( Fruhauf sp? )  .... Union Pacific, Pennsy, and NYC, are all Lionel.  The longer 35 foot ( B&O ) trailers are all Weavers.

Thank you for the insight Patrick....

I have a ROW dockside and the associated B&O round top boxcar (sound car).  I need to upgrade the sounds. Always something on the workbench!

Picked up an MTH DT&I 2-10-0 with thoughts of making her into a representation of Strasburg #90 (yes I know it's not an exact match but i feel it will look good enough from 10 feet away).

Meanwhile my Chief Inspector gave the new acquisition a thorough inspection followed by mandatory rest time on her favorite railroad issued blanket.

#90 vs. a Russian Decapod:

2-10-0 compare

Rusty

Rusty - thanks for providing the very helpful drawing!

Again my intent is just to make a "close enough" representation. To my knowledge no one has made the Strasburg/Great Western Baldwin Built 2-10-0 unless it was an expensive brass model, so I feel the Russian decapod is an affordable diecast compromise. I know the steam dome and sand dome are the incorrect size and placement, as well as the headlight and marker lights are incorrect, the bell, whistle and safety valves are also in different locations, and possibly the boiler on the Russian may even be a little smaller than the #90's.

I plan to modify the boiler front, move the headlight up top, move the marker lights, some minor changes to the handrails and call it close enough. I will not mess with the sand or steam domes  as I do not want to cut into a diecast boiler.

I am keeping my eye out for the N&W Mollie in Strasburg colors but until then this should be an adequate substitute. I know I am not the only one looking for one too but hopefully I'll get lucky.

I have been so busy at work......I have done very little on the layout since New Years except run trains (which is fun in itself).....Yesterday, I took pictures and wrote down a list of projects I need to get moving on....

Peter

So, what's on the list of projects?  Inquiring minds want to know...

I wish I knew you wanted one. I have the Atlas version almost new in the box. Only used once and it is in better condition than the one in the picture. I tried to sell it for $50 once and no one wanted it. Oh, well. Timing is everything they say!

Phil i wish i did know u had one and i have the atlas one too but it got dropped on cement floor 8 months ago. The horn button won't work part of the time because being dropped. I already bought the williams one.

Albert, the coaling tower looks great on the layout.  How much more before it's done?

Ben, nice shots from NJHR empire.  Is Lawrence Farmer's new?  I don't recall seeing it before, but the layout is so big and detailed it seems like there is always something new.

Alex, that's one of the problems with doing repairs for others, you get to see all types of cool stuff you may not have been interested in but now "Ya gotta have one!"

Lawrence Farmers was originally on Eliot Schers Munoz lines   We bought it from him when he dismantled the layout along with about 10 other structures

This got a double take from me.  It is a good image of the present big city nightmare/blessing, the food truck/roach couch's the 10.00 $ truck/8.00 truck... a bundle of these Deli's on wheels are exotic as all get out.  YUCK STOPS is a gaggle.

This retirement biz is ok, I recommend it.

LOL   Thats Roach coach alley   Gives the populace something to eat while they're at the beach   This was created by Mike Caruso    I love the scene

Roach Coach Alley may be interesting to us but I've seen the look on the faces of the guests at that luxury hotel on the beach and they are not interested in mingling with the food truck crowd!  One of those Homies has made his onto one of the balconies and it looks like he's claiming it for Mexico.
