Ives first offered the 3245R in 1928, it was an articulated locomotive with the "short hood". The catalog referred to it as the St. Paul type. MTH has the 3245R in the 2005 catalog.
In 1929 Ives offered the 3245R again but this time it came with the long hood. MTH cataloged the long hood 3245R in the 2007 catalog.

Photos and video show New Haven 4-6-0 Ten-Wheeler #816 (Lionel 6-82272) on my 12’-by-8’ layout pulling two wood-sided coaches by MTH Premier and a parlor car by Atlas O Premier.

One of my favorite PostWar sets is number 1607WS from 1958. An O27 set with loads of play value and the always reliable 2037 steam loco.
I don't have and overhead trestle, but I thought that it would be fun to "stage it" with my LCCA remake of the Alco New Haven passenger set.....
The 2037 is a well engineered engine and "runs like the wind".....

An early 3v PS2 version claims 'Improved detail' from the original PS1 model
Any idea what the improved details might be?
I own the original Proto-Sounds version of the MTH Class A from circa 2000. Although I did update the original QSI board with a QS-3000 board. This improved the sounds and operation a bit.
As for the details, the locomotive pictured has lubricator linkage on both the front and rear engines. The original did not have these much to my disappointment. The tires on the drivers are also all blackened. I did this on my original class A with a black sharpie. The cab windows on the newer model open and are painted. Although they should be orange, not red. And the tender trucks have chains, which the original did not.
There might be other new details I missed. But those are the ones I noticed based on the photo.
