I’ve had the orange Repro  Dorfan Croc for quite a while, just got the matching coaches.

Approaching a hundred years old, a Hornby clockwork loco made for the French market in PLM livery. Hornby reused the British LMS loco tender to make a French model by just changing the company name, even the 444 wheels configuration has been kept, in French it should have been 222 to look more realistic, but it’s a toy. The two little gondolas are the nuts and bolts type that match the loco and also of British origin with French markings.

Some weeks ago I presented here a tinplate gauge 1 Märklin postal car. I combined it with a Märklin high voltage (starkstrom) locomotive and some Märklin and Bing cars to have a run in the garden:

My Variac to control this train had a short, so I tried it with an LGB DC transformer and it runs very quietly (a bit slow).

American Flyer and Ives Freight Trains. Can you spot my only original Ives transition car?

got my 602 Bagge Car painted. Just needs rewired and decals. This was an original red car, but it had a bad repaint, so blue it will be.

picked up an Ives transition Observation this week.On the lookout for a couple coaches now.

 I decided to go down to the station this morning to see if there was anything interesting going on....not much, just a few passenger trains and the usual crowd of passengers waiting to board.

I picked this up on the Bay for a good price to go with my AF litho collection. It needs some restoration, but the litho is in pretty good shape. It’s missing one coupler and has an Ives on one side. Somebody also started painting it with some ugly blue color. That will need to be stripped.

I have been reading on various threads that the craft store Michael's has a variety of tin buildings for sale that might go with O gauge trains.  I stopped in at the local Michael's today and looked them over.  I purchased two items. Most of  the buildings are unpainted metal.  I chose one that looks like it could be some kind of industrial building.

This is the water tower that they had available.  There was a windmill too but it had a plastic tail fin and the bladed wheel was also plastic; so I passed on that.

I think they look pretty good together.

And here they are with an O gauge American Flyer engine.

Most of the buildings are unpainted.  You can find the entire assortment on their website.  I believe they are 40% off in my local store through 11/3.

I wonder if these would be large enough for Standard Gauge? I guess the wife gets to go to Michael's tomorrow. I like that industrial building. I've painted some of their metal buildings before and they come out looking pretty good.

Ok last post here for tonight, I just finished a McCoy B&M tank car. This was one of the TCA Lonestar cars that seem to be everywhere so I didn't feel bad stripping it and repainting it as a B&M. It should go well with the 200 series cars I've been acquiring lately.

With some elbow grease, oven cleaner and Goof Off, I was able to get the ugly paint off the dome, end caps and frame. It looks like I got the original color back without repainting, but I will take feedback because I am not too sure. Now I just need couplers.

Hi Sam,

The straps and handrails on yours look like brass. It tried cleaning mine and they look like tin. Is the brass a thin brass plate?

They come in a variety of ways George. I have one that has plated wire, one with brass, and one that looks like it is just a piece of wire - no plating and definitely  not brass.

Got carried away last week taking pics outside...last weeks Flyer set I posted was the 4 wheel cars and a different loco, I'm not sure of the name of this set, the cars show up in the 31/ catalog but with a different loco and under the heading of a "Railroader" set... This is my favorite version of the 3195 loco because it has the light shroud and bell up front...

Robert--Love the Issmayer set especially...They always catch my eye....put an Issmayer alongside the fanciest loco ever made and I'd still love the Issmayer....may I ask who made that platform closest to the front of the picture?

Thank you. Based on that, I will not mess with it much more except for the couplers. Maybe a little more cleaning.

I agree MTJ54...always liked the ultra toy-like look of the 3195 loco:

I like to run it with 301X four-wheel freights...gives a nice uniform appearance.

Just curious to your opinions...how tinplate-ish is this set up?  The gg-1 is die cast and of course traditional sized.  Its also conventional, made by mth back when protosound (1) was still optional.  I  have said many times “to each their own” in this hobby, but I was just curious as to your thoughts.

It's classic postwar, pulling a tinplate consist. It will work. Someday I will add a postwar, green GG1 to my collection and add a prewar coupler.

Good eye!!  You can blame our friend on the west coast for coughing that up a few months ago!

JHZ563 - I mix and match all the time - looks good.  Just to show you your not alone here's one of mine from awhile back. I've posted this on the forum before but it makes the point.

picked up a British Marx 3978 electric passenger set this week from down under. Plan on exchanging the loco shell for a better one I purchased about 4 months ago. Passenger cars are a bit faded but this was one set I had on my bucket list. And it still runs. 

Also got this Russian streamliner loco floor toy with a passenger car that looks to be the same as the Igra pass. coaches from Czech Republic. The loco is missing the correct rear axle but came with the original wheels. I'll add Marx or Hafner T&S couplers to mate them. I have been told the Russian stamping says Kharkiv, but I suspect it refers to the city of Kharkov, although I can find no other online information on it. 

One coat hangar, one swizzle stick, a pair of couplers, fixed. 

Here is what the Igra passenger coaches look like, but the frame on the above coach looks more like the frame Igra used for the freight cars and tenders.

I see that when purchased online the water tower comes with a windmill and what is described as another water tower, but to me looks more like a silo.
