We railfanned the Vinnings area yesterday along the CSX W&A.  I am curious if the cuts through the rock were the same for the Civil War days or has the track been realigned?  Naturally the ROW has been re-engineered in place but the basic path has to be close as there are only so many ways to cut up from the River valley.  Also, oddly they removed all the concrete ties where we were near Cumberland PKWY.

That's what I thought.  Very cool though.  I assume they have widened cuts etc over the years.  I noticed some stacks are single loaded while other trains are all double.  Where Westbound is the height limit?  Tunnel Hill? (double stacks head to Knoxville)

We even drove up the road to Tilford Yard and saw the hump in action.  We were so quick that I doubt anyone saw us and we never left the car.
