I am hoping for a a legacy yellow belly and vanderbuilt steam engine, one of each, scale

I think your going to see an expansion of the whimsical themes and Legacy. Such as Star Wars, Area 51, Halloween and Christmas. Just my 2 cents.

Is the release date 1/15/25?
Halloween and North Pole Central GG1s

Guessing the J1e Hudson will be carried over as the VL entry.
I'm mostly interested in legacy steam as 3rd Rail covers pretty much the scale diesels I'd buy. I'm guessing Lionel does the 2-6-6-6 H-8 Allegheny, its Virginian cousin, and a couple fantasy schemes as it's always popular and it hasn't been done in nine years. It's a big engine that they can put a bunch of different smoke units in with a crazy expensive price tag to match. I might even order one. :-)

I would be so poor. And happy. But poor.
The General Motors ElectoMotive Division GP35 diesel engine-electric motor locomotive models have not yet been made in all possible railroads and paint schemes.
The GP35 still has not been produced in the Grand Trunk Western scheme (ex DT&I) and the SOO LINE scheme.

Here are my guesses...
- VL Hudson Engine of the Year
- A VL or Legacy Phantom (no seriously it's time)
- Some great PW inspired sets (Hopefully a 671 Turbine or similar)
- A return to making some awesome accessories like the Hobo Tower.
O scale GM EMD GP7 diesel engine-electric motor locomotives in:
Detroit and Toledo ShoreLine
Grand Trunk Western
Andrew
1) 5 stripe PE GG1
2) Orange T-R-A-N-S-Y-L-V-A-N-I-A GG1
3) VIA F40PH in the Spiderman Scheme
4) Santa Fe Blue Goose
5) 18" aluminum Santa Fe passenger cars

I have been wishing for a Legacy PRR T1 for so long I have stopped wishing. I just purchased a Legacy M1 so I blew the train budget for awhile 😀

Still after all these years the O scale EMD GP7 and O scale EMD GP9 diesel engine-electric motor locomotives have yet to be produced with the proper details and paint schemes for the SOO LINE Railroad.
The original 1940's and 1950's schemes of the SOO LINE.
The red, white and black SOO LINE scheme of the 1960's.

The Vision Line 40' steel refrigerator cars with sound will be offered in the SOO LINE schemes, for the first time.

Star Wars, Lionel announced they have the rights..
Maybe something realy NEW. O Gauge Shinkansen Type O... That would soak up my train budget.
Would like to see a PRR T1 in the version that the T1 Project is working on with the portholes in the front skirt.
Has been 25 years since their other scale locomotive was produced. This would go well with their "125 Year Anniversary"
What a year 2000 was - they produced 3, count 'em THREE new large scale steamers: The T1, the B&O EM1, and the N&W Class A
VISION LINE
O scale models of 8-Door high-cube 86' box cars that are made entirely out of aluminum and have operating, opening doors.
Exact replicas of high-cube box cars built by Greenville Steel Car Co. and Thrall Car and Pullman-Standard.
Opening Aluminum doors is a must have feature for 8-door boxcars.
Loading platform and rolling carts of parts available separately.

I'm waiting for a rerun of the Boston & Albany 4-6-6T locomotive with a road number that hasn't been produced before -say #402.
MELGAR
I assume we will see replicas of the red steel passenger cars that came with the original 700e sets. And some variety of 5 car Pullman/NYC green passenger sets, along with aluminum versions. Anything matching nostalgic 700e/5344 options from the late 30s-50s. Probably some matching freight options of same vintage.
Brass hybrid Union Pacific 2-10-2, #5511, with correct Young valve gear.
Currently being restored by RRHMA.
Let's get the blazes outta here!
Pull this sled around!
O scale ACF CENTER FLOW, 4600 CU FT , 3-bay/3-compartment covered hopper that is patterned after the ATHEARN HO scale ACF CENTER FLOW, 4600 Cubic Foot, 3-bay covered hopper.

My hope would be Lionel is going to release a Santa Fe 3460 class line up but that maybe too much to ask.
Also, any word on the release date for this catalog?
I'm in for the Legacy PRR T1 Duplex if they ever make one. I have the TMCC version that I did a Legacy upgrade on, but a Vision Line one with all the smoke features and dual sound would crack open my wallet. Another winner would be the C&O Yellowbelly Hudson previously mentioned. Even though I did an upgrade of the original, again a Legacy model would be super keen! Finally, Marty's suggestion of a Legacy Phantom would be great. Of course, they'd have to make it in all four of the different colors to match everyone's passenger cars.
A few more former MTH designs, advertised as "all-new tooling" and twice the price.
MTH and 3rd Rail have both just announced F7 production runs...so F7s.
VL Poultry Cars, would fit in with the stock car series they have released the last several years.
Given that most of this stuff will arrive 6 to 10 months after preorders close, I hope they anticipate some patriotic things like the American Freedom train for the US's semi-quincentennial (250th) birthday. If they wait until next year, we'll miss out on running this stuff for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and other great summer events.
A Wheeling & Lake Erie Locomotive
Any NEW Legacy steam engine designed to run of 054” curve…..for obvious selfish reasons 😁!
The TMCC moving Gantry crane in something other than MOW and Bucyrus - like NS, BN, etc
I will start with my perennial wish for a Southern Pacific 4-10-2 three cylinder steamer, and then am waiting to see if then promised cars for the Hudson are now full 80' heavyweight rather than another rerun of the 72' decades old versions
I wouldn't get your hopes up Peter.
As much as I would love newly-tooled, NYC-accurate heavyweight cars from the Big L, those chances seem to be getting smaller and smaller. But hey, maybe I'll be proven wrong and my wallet will eat my words.
It looks like the catalog is coming next Wednesday.

I sort of wonder if John will see his Pennsy Duplex, I would say that there is definitely a good possibility in that. It would have been a very great idea of Lionel to go after that tooling as well as the Pennsy Q's. I would wager good money that if we don't see either one of these two in this catalog, that they would for sure be coming. No I can't say I have a crystal ball into what is coming, but these two would have been excellent choices for them to go after so that they can offer something new that they haven't done in Legacy.
I don't think it'll happen next week because they recently announced the VL Hudson J1e, but the Niagara, Baldwin Centipedes, and DD35A haven't been issued for years, as well as the Allegheny as I previously mentioned. I'm betting on at least one of these monsters reappearing sometime this year, either as plain Legacy in this catalog or getting the full VL treatment later this year. People will always love huge locomotives, and I'm guessing they're some of Lionel's most profitable models.

I thought they might have, but when I searched for them only the Legacy versions from 2010 and 2011 showed up.
