What did you do on your layout today?

The two Hart ballast hoppers are in a final gloss coat but in need of a 48 hour cure.   In the meantime, I printed up a sheet of data markings for the cars including the DMIR herald. I had a local printer print the page in maroon for me.  I got the herald off the internet and it was black and in jpeg format so I was not able to make a color change, although I was able to size it. Yesterday I stopped at a local printer with the proof sheet in black.  They wanted a pdf file of the proof and $5.45 to make it happen.  When I got home, I sent them a PDF file of my proof and by mid afternoon I received an email with a PDF in maroon. Great service, price and a perfect color match!   I have water slide decal paper so I was able to print the decals last night. Tomorrow I will begin to apply the decals.    

The final step will be Dullcote and some weathering!

So P51, is that you in Korea?! Doh, I'm pulling your chain! That's a great photo though with a time period camera as well. It's too bad that most of our American vets from WWII and the Korean war are gone, hopefully people carry on their memories and War stories. My Dad was WWII vet, Philippines, 1944-1945. Only he didn't fly planes, he jumped out of them! Thanks for sharing the photo, you look great in uniform!

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I'm sure I can rescue the shell. Just need to take it slow. I'm eager to finish the lead A unit but I'm on hold waiting for Lionel to ship the cab interiors. I don't want to install the markers and interior cab light until I have the part in hand. I ordered engineer figures from MTH and they shipped the next day.  Crickets from the big L so far.....

Wow, I was 2 1/2 pages behind!!  How did that happen?  Wonderful projects everyone!  My hat is off to Mike G for taking the time to cite so many modelers and their projects.  I'm just not up to that challenge.  I can't sit that long. 

I finished putting the shingles on my Thomas, West Virginia station kit.  It is tedious, but I'm pretty happy with the results.  I ordered some snowbirds to put on the roof like the prototype had, since this is snow country.  I don't want sheets of snow and ice knocking passengers down.  The chimney that came in the kit is too short I think, so I still need to do that.  I have everything to build the foundation, so that is next up.

Really fantastic looking structure Mark.              The shingles were a great choice and the layout of the roof was well done sir.        Definitely going to add a lot of interest to your layout.

Finished converting 8 MTH floodlights to LEDs this afternoon . They look and work great and give plenty of light, unlike the prior bulbs. I can’t say that this was a fun project. One was educational, two cut the time in half, three conferred a masters degree; after that it became rather tedious.    

But they are done.

Well guys I was able to get out to the train room today and worked on a few little projects. First off I got my parts from Jeff The train tender! Come to find out someone had already taken the gang car I got for free to try and fix it. I thought it was just the drive gear that was bad so I replaced that. Photo below, as you can see the gear was dished really bad!

Here is a photo of the new gear installed I still need to add new grease!

Come to find out the carrier bearing is bad cause even with the new gear it just binds. Jeff sent me a blowup diagram for this can and come to find out its missing shims and spacers along with a small bearing. I ordered them all and will get back to it when I get the parts!

Next I worked on the lighting wire for a B&O caboose that was rotted out. Now it shines nice and bright!

The last thing I did was clean all the wheels and rollers on both cars. Thats when CEO Projects came into play! LOL

Bob, I’ve used Durham’s water putty. Comes as a powder. Mix it with water, and it dries very hard. Decent open time, and easy to work with.

I did LEDs on these also Bill.........I only had two though.            I understand tedious just with my two.

Looks like you made great use of your time before CEO  Projects started Mike.         Nice work ..........on little projects ?              This would take me all day !!!

WW2 US stuff has been a passion of mine as long as I've been into trains, as long as I can remember.

I have a collection of war correspondent stuff that might be one of the most comprehensive in private hands (which really isn't saying much as very few people collect such things).

That's why my layout takes place during WW2. My newest OGR article takes advantage of that.

@leapinlarry I really like your trestle bridge. I'm currently working on curved trestle bridge and hopefully it comes out half as nice as yours.

@p51 my grandfather was a correspondent during WWII. I believe he was stationed in Korea for most of his time while serving. If you see the name Gleason or see a cartoon that was probably him.

My wife wasn't happy I placed an order for a batch of patches where I didn't already have orders lined up (I've made runs of other patches I've designed in the past, all space-related). I need to sell at least a dozen of them (depending on retail costs, they should be somewhere under $10 each) to cover the costs of having them made.

As soon as I get them, I'll make a final amount and ordering info available.

got my figures and interiors for my F3's. Looks like most of the unimportant stuff (anything not train related ) is out of the way so hopefully I can finish up the engine this weekend!

Decided to use a vacation day and took today off. I told my boss I was takng it as a mental day.

Spent the day in the traincave. Main loop is back in operation. Need to add 2 drops yet but the locos cruised thru.

More work done on the trestle bridge build. Snapped a quick pic. You can see my train inspector Ziggy checking out my work.

Larry,  I think 1st time I have noticed, but see ( I think ), mirror usage in the ceiling,  looks nice, 

    BUT,  I need to steal or attempt, 3 ) items,

   1 and 2 are the billboards,   off in the distance has  * Honda*, and then the one close by, * incredible *    are these bought and then you add the pics, or did you make

from something ?????
