On top of gluing all the styrofoam together and figuring elevations I started to assemble this Engine servicing platform from Altoona Model Works.

Yes Mike that’s what I’m planning on. The platform is a quick build. Looks like it will fit well.

Very cool!
Building up the different levels with Styrofoam looks great. I may try that. Well today, I found the right size sitting passengers to populate by MTH passenger cars. No surgery needed. I took a couple pictures showing the comparison between the Lionel passengers and the evermodel passenger size. The Lionel figures are perfect for the space between the seats. I've got about six cars to do, but I'm excited that I've got something that's going to work out and look to scale. While the Lionel 21 inch passenger scale figures are more expensive, $34 for 24 figures, they're worth it. I will see if I can find them cheaper. BTW I really love the effect that Farmer John's curved streets have on the realism of his layout. I will keep that in mind.

I worked on my passing siding which will be street level. I'm about an 1/8 inch off so my son Ryans going to bring a power planer to drop it. My plywood is 5/8's so 1/8th won't hurt it. The area in the first picture is parking lot level.

Oh to have a son with a power planer!! I could have used him numerous times!
The passing siding is looking great, Dave!!

Yes, I'll fill once I get the height right.
@mike g. posted:I agree with Bob, just wondering how wide is your sons power planer?
It's a Milwaukee, he said it will fit. If not, I can always widen the path, I have a lot of fills to do anyway.
@Tranquil Hollow RR posted:Peter, is the work house your own creation? Either way; well done.

Lionel has been making these for about 15 years, most recently with sounds. This one has a light but no sounds.
Here is a picture from the old layout where it anchors the scene of the diesel being broken up in the lower left corner.

so, Peter, are there bare wires hanging out of the wall where the outlet boxes used to be? Nice detail on the work House. finished populating my first MTH passenger car. Used a mix of Lionel and Evemodel Sitting figures. Did have to do a bit of foot surgery on the eve model figures. I found the testers model glue to work best for affixing the figures to the seats. Only nine more cars to populate.

This is the Lionel workhouse with lights and sound to accompany the Lionel crane - grandkids (and adults) love it.

Hi guys I got a little time out in the train room after some work for the CEO.
I was able to get my airfield moved and the upper loop set to go behind it. I had to move the airfield closer to the center of the back wall which could cause the grade to increase, right now it is at 2.5%. I know I can go with a steeper grade as my old layout had a 4% grade!
Here are a couple photos!
As you can see I had to cut the cross members, don't worry I plan on reinforcing them, plus I ran a 1x4 directly under the mounting blocks. In the front of the airfield will be a small field with grass and small trees.
I hope you all have a great weekend and find time to have fun with your layouts and trains! 😀

really looking forward to watching your vision take form.
Kept having transformers trip out so chased it down and discovered one of my power district 80 watt bricks was out of phase. Fixed that and things sure do run better now. Ran trains all afternoon with my buddy Sam

Aee you going to be installing LED strip lighting in your passenger cars Craig ? I've done it with GRJs light modules and the strip LEDs with very satisfying results.
Little people are looking good Craig.

Looks good Craig. I've done a couple cars with BEEP seated people. They require some surgery and are a little big but our tracks have 3 rails so......
I agree with Dallas- upgrade the lighting, you won't be disappointed.
This is an MPC RPO coach that I upgraded to pull behind my Lionchief+ Doodlebug. The power regulators are easy to build (I bought them as kits) add a strip of LED's and you're good to go. Lower current draw over the incandescent lamps is a plus too.

Not exactly Mike. This is a union shop so I need 4 guys standing around drinking coffee and one guy actually working......
Nice work on the airfield too. Will the plane move like before? Is there room for the mechanism?

Thanks Jay. I've done a few painted silver, decided to switch things up a little. I might hit it with a little powder to knock the shine down.

Craig , ( RBB&BC ) alsoon GRJs LED light module kits there is a potentiometer for adjusting the brightness of the LEDs. 💡... ☀️...🌗...🌘...

Guess you should get the rest of the layout built first? No?
