What did you do on your layout today?

adding on to the new train room...

going to build a deck above truck box the length of the building....

this room will have storage tracks above work benches...

camouflaging  new addition into the yard....

with out door crew lounge...

new main line in front of train room...

As I was getting ready to go get lumber I saw the mailman left  my package from Scenic Express on the step. Placed the order over the weekend. I ordered some more of their scrub grass which I really like and as I was browsing I came across a new scenery item from Martin Welberg so I ordered a bunch of them in various color tones. Unfortunately the majority of them are back ordered and won't ship till maybe August. But now that I got the first package I like the look of them. Pics.............Paul

That is really cool. The tug turned out great, but better yet it really completes the dockside scene.   Last pic might just bring out the boats lights without a lot of  glare, and may just turn out to be a cool night scene.

It could use a press down, sure... But can you guess what it is?

  It is the top half of an oil lamp; dollhouse furniture kicking around the model  parts box for forty years A small extension at the base for more stack height, and it will be a fun alternative anyhow.  

Looks pretty cool the way it is. Some how I cant see the engine with any other type of stack.

  Straight as a crooked arrow, someone misaligned the rivet holes during the last rebuild . One off keeps the door open while you're in it though

Brassicles! Brass tube coating with a creamy solder center all on a steel stick! 3 chime, yum! I like the mixed flavors best..

Reminds me of those engines made from ceramic and have that are loosely prototype based but with that whimsical look about them. pretty cool  fits well with the ghost in the switching tower.

Sorry not really a 2nd true level but an elevated line that will go over the main level.  So in truth this layout has a subway level, a main level, and an elevated line.

Ok now that I have caught up on the posts in this thread.  As usual nice work..   

Mario finishing his GP35 inspired me and finally finished my SP RS11 using Mario's spacer and kadee mounts. What a pain but at this point 99% complete. I thought I had finished it a week ago but didn't like the fit

so I redid it Now just to do a little more sanding and touch up paint.  

Since I was planning to make this one a dummy I pulled the electronics trimed of half inch on both sides of the frame and sanded down the tabs on the trucks to lower the engine

Next i trimed the pilot and installed the spacer and the kadeee mount using Loctite 60 universal glue. This is rated at 1800 lbs per square once once dried. Drilled out the holes and then mounted the draft box and screwed them in.  Next Using the Loctite glued them to the shell and then used 5 sec fix( same as Bondic) to fill in the gaps and then sanded to hide the seams . 

Reinstalled the shell onto the frame 

Final check not perfect but works. Ok Is not pretty, I get it. 

This is from the test run last week before final adjustments.

Thanks. I had picked it for dirt cheap with the intent of pairing it with the 3rd Rail SD9s. Can motors and horizontal motors don't mix well. Now I just need to find an Atlas GP9/7 in the Black Widow scheme.  I just realized the tug is home ported from Amsterdam. Kind of far from home in a port where you find Conrail.

 For all intents and purpose, the "Power Distribution and Control Center" is complete.   I have labeled the tracks starting with the track closest to the edge of the layout as "Track 1".  The Elevated loop is "Track 3".  I decided to tin the ends of the wire rather than use spade connectors.  The MTH Terminal block has a "clamp" arrangement which insures a very positive connection without the use of a spade connector (IMO).  You will notice that there are no wires connected to Track 3 terminal block.  The connection is functional, however, I have not started wiring the elevated loop as of yet.

 Power for the TIU, Track 3 and the Legacy 990 Command Set are permanently located on the Power Distribution Control Center board.  Power for Track 1 and 2 is supplied by the Z4000 located on the cart shown in the pictures.  It is connected via 16 gauge wire and banana plugs.  The "U" wire from the Legacy 990 Base is connected with 16 gauge wire and a banana plug as well making access relatively easy.

Did final test run with the RS11 sandwiched between the SD9 and the SD7 after allowing the epoxy to cure for a day. Ran them for a hour as the took over freight duties from the CB&Q FTs.

Finally finished getting my MiniToys eBay find up and running.  Judging by the handmade trim (Strathmore destination sign and pilot;  wood strips [!!!] as the stripes), a previous owner was a Pacific Electric fan of sorts... 

After a year or so of fiddling with the mechanical crossing gate at Clarksville,  I finally got disgusted with the little indefinite and wired up a contact so that both tracks activate whatever electric gate is in service there... 

Fortescue is duly impressed.

As befits her running gear's origins as a Lionel 646 Hudson,  The Powerful Katrinka has been running smoothly and, well, powerfully!

Got to try out my teathered Beeps on the club layout. There is a O-72 O-96 curved switch that small engines have a problem with. The ran beautifully with no problems.

Pat, they look good!  Quite a bit smaller than what I'm used to seeing you run, but they look good!

That section is 10 by 8. The rest of the railroad is on the other side of the wall to the right.  That's 20 by 10. It is a mess.  Still being demolished for new layout.

Added more "residents", cars, Greyhound Scenicruiser, a park scene, and a (not easy to find) new MTH #193 NYC water tower.

Plan is to add street light, lights in park, additional traffic signs, and trees in the near future.

'Waiting on pre-ordered Broadway Limited 6144 Operating Water Tower as my final building before "finishing" scenery.
