Sorry Bob, but in Brooklyn (which is on Long Island in spite of what most folks from Nassau and Suffolk say), Entenmann’s was a Johnny-come-lately. Now THIS would make a nice, colorful addition to your layout...

Goooooooooooood crumb cakes!

Johan, that's a great shot of the ore train coming out of the tunnel.

FL9TURBO2, nice power plant scene.

The wife and I just got in from picking up the painted passenger cars. Rain held off till we were close to home but we decided to stop at Cracker Barrel for dinner. The passenger cars came out better then I thought because I gave her a drawing of what I wanted so until I saw it for real I was a bit apprehensive. So now comes the process of reinstalling the sillouettes in the cars and then the new lighting for the cars. I am very happy with Christine's work and I'll have a few projects for her down the road. Pics of the cars..........Paul

Bar, Great looking all around! Wonderful looking layout!

FL9TURBO2, Looking good, Keep up the nice work!

Paul2, the cars look fabulous! What a talented young lady! Keep her employed!~ LOL

Mark, I remember those days from my old layout, but the image is fading fast! I better get off my butt and try to move forward a little faster!

Upon arriving back home after a long day of gigs and a photo shoot with my music group, I ran trains for about 30 minutes or so.  It really felt good to retreat to the train room and have this time with the trains.  I so very much appreciate them!  While the trains were running, I began working on a scene for this week's Team Track Tuesday.  A very enjoyable half hour for sure!

The truck is made out of resin it came from Romania and after about a year I had it the paint faded to a orange/red color and the frame started to sag. The only way to fix the frame was to break it and reposition it into place. Their interior also bothered me because it wasn’t painted Mack interior green and the seats wasn’t painted brown so I decided to fix that also while  I had it apart and I repainted it red today.

Don't think I'd like to back into Ebinger's either , although I don't see a lot of scratches on their door frames !

Wow, this thread is really full of beautiful layouts, ideas, thoughts, a place to Learn, a place to Share. Today, a friend brought over his new, Lionel’s Newest, Sante Fe Passenger Set, Lionchief. He ran his new train with his I-phone, I ran mine with the Cab 2...He likes to set up a few trains at Christmas Time...You know, around the Christmas Tree....6B557068-9145-482D-9652-7A49C07595637485F62F-9F9B-412D-BE9F-6C3590C3EAE301AE709F-12BB-4B34-B795-D372FE838E05966CC640-B303-40E1-A2F2-01CF4360595ABC8C5DF9-C2EA-4B01-B9DC-03C1504CFEC5

Thanks for liking the Texas Special Set, me to. Now, look at the Picture of the loan Sante Fe F unit #159, Lionchief, and compare it to the new Legacy Sante Fe F3. I thought it ironic that the Lionchief F3 unit had more metallic silver paint, and glossy red color than The pricy Legacy Sante Fe Set,...Whats your thoughts.. I will post better pictures later, for a real review.D027BDE5-0981-4C5D-9AAC-CFA467D48847

All this bakery talk got me to reminiscing.  We took a field trip to Braun's Bakery in Pittsburgh back in the early '60s.  My mother bought their bread wrapped like in the picture.  I remember these thermometers for sure.  Pronounced "Bronze Taun Tok Bread" in Pittsburgheese.

Wow, Mark... and people think deez, dem, and doze of us who were born and raised in Brooklyn tawk kinda funny

That’s a cool piece of advertising memorabilia.

Not much lately. Our train room is stuffed with lawn equipment that we had to keep safe from both Hurricane Florence and Michael. There isn't any room to move around in there. I need to empty it out, and I'm hoping that once I do that ... I'll be able to assess the final moves to get the table fully operational and used more often than it has been. The oldest still talks about his "outside trains" so the interest is still there.

Plus, it's almost time to think about what I'm going to do for underneath the tree.  I think I'll need a bit more FasTrack. There is a train show in MB coming up in a few weeks. Hope to get a deal or two.

LOL- Don't forget about us folks from LAWN GUILAND

Took my new K-line PRR ALCO's apart yesterday and gave the shells a good bath. Must have been in a home with a heavy smoker (not the Lionel kind), they were pretty grimy and sticky. A couple of the pick up rollers are in bad shape. One of them on the power unit must have gotten jammed and had a big glob of track gook stuck to it. When I scrapped it off, the one side of the roller had a big groove in it from dragging on the track. I have some spares so I will swap out the bad ones.
I wired the motors in series as is mandatory with all K-line dual-motor diesels.

Now I need some advice- the dummy A unit has some spray paint splatter on it. Any suggestions to safely remove it with out damaging the plastic shell and lettering?

I also applied some varnish to the first couple of windings on my KW transformer. Every time I move one handle the other roller hits the winding and gets the loco on the other track either moving or trips the E unit.

Packed up more boxes from my recent buying spree  and sent them to the attic for storage.

Grandson and I got to run trains Saturday night and Sunday for the first time in many months. The best part was letting him take the ZW throttle for the first time, he was very excited but very determined to keep it under control. Which he did. The tracks took quite a while to get clean, especially the Fasttrack. We ran a Lionel 2026 for the that we picked up at the DuPage train show back in April, with a nice whistle tender. After a quick checkup, minor cleaning, a bit of lube, it ran very nicely on it's maiden run. It will creep along quite slowly and smoothly, which was a pleasant surprise, and easily pulled about 8 cars. We also ran the "big green engine" (John Deere Lionchief) which was troublesome until extensive cleaning of the Fasttrack rails.20181027 Hand on the throttle, running the 2026

Paul and Bob, I find it kind of fun trying to spell how we really say things in different parts of the English speaking world!

Deuce, At least you and yours are safe!  I brought some of my wife's plants in before we started getting frost, and now really see how they grew.  I have three that were in the way in the area I plan to build the layout, so moved them Saturday to the old little train room where there is more light.  It's a bit tight, but I am going to end up making that a workshop!  I'll be 62 this week, and it will be my first workshop in my life!  That's an accomplishment!

Mike, My Christmas lights are still in the attic.  Looks like you have incentive to getting yours hung early!

Bob, the Alcos do look better, but I do see the splatter on one.  I'll let the experts comment on what to use for removal.

Slowhands, Your grandson looks very attentive!  Great photograph!  Congratulations on getting him back to the layout and that he has graduated to the throttle!

Jim, I was looking online for a photograph of the Braun's Bakery, but didn't come up with anything.  Thanks for the information that the NS/old PRR ran behind.

Have you tried scraping gently with a fingernail?   Try that,  then brake fluid applied with a Q-Tip and gently rubbed.  If that doesn't work,  try generic Lectric Shave with a Q-tip.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Tried scraping one inconspicuous spot with limited success. WD-40 and Contact cleaner did nothing. I used to use an electric shaver, might still have an old bottle of Williams lectric-shave kicking around the house.

Thanks Mitch

My pleasure!  Be careful with the Lectric Shave, as it will take the paint off a painted shell as well.   Won't bother the plastic, though.

Mitch

Bob, I would try some alcohol in an inconspicuous spot; if that doesn't work try dish detergent (inconspicuous spot again). Try NOT to use mineral spirits or lacquer based paint thinners, AND if you are so brave again be sure it's in an inconspicuous spot. My guess is dish detergent will soften it enough that you can get them off with your fingernail. Just rinse the detergent off after doing a few spots - don't try doing it all at one time.

Mark, I try to get them up before the weather changes ! But I am a little late already, nothing but rain for the past 5 days! Plus I have to get them out to check them before they go outside, I hate working on them in the rain and cold!

Brian, nice pictures, and thank you for the little videos!

I'm with you on getting them up before it gets cold.  We have had a lot of rain lately too.  The trouble is, if I put them up too early maple leaves will get caught between the wires and the gutter.  We had a very late spring, I started mowing the last few days of April, and now a late fall.  I haven't even started raking leaves yet, which is unusual.  Oh well.  We always take whatever comes!

Paul: Thank you. I have still couple weeks time build these things before our Germany trip.  I have many new ideas, but after our trip more time build them.
