I assembled this Williams Western Maryland Alco FA1 from bits and pieces. Right now it's an un-powered dummy but that may change.  Finally got a more prototypical set of horns on top to replace the "tugboat" single note.  I really like "loud" paint schemes like this one, Chessie System, etc.

FYI #304 was the only WM FA to get circus paint.

Ralph, You did a fantastic job!!  You know I like the WM Fireball, but anything Western Maryland is good!  I did not know only one FA got Circus paint!

Today I soldered the feeder wires hanging down to the buss wires on my slot car track. And I'm calling the track done. It took one year from starting the table work till now. I have a O gauge layout also I've been working on for years.

Slot cars and trains have a lot in common as far as tablework, track planning, and wiring, smooth track.

Cool can you post some pictures?   What scale slot cars do you have??   I'd like to find something 1/48-1/43 with cars bodies from the 30s-50s!  Yep a pipe dream!! LOL

Hi all, don't know if I will get any train stuff done today. Were spose to gee snow on Sunday and the wife wants me to get the snow blower ready. Well I went out this morning at 5 and checked it out then bang the cable that runs the auger busted! now I am trying to make shift a cable from an old broken down lawn mower that has been laying around for parts. Wish me luck! LOL

?  Why two isolated rails ?

Basically reproducing  this:

I'm a bit flustered by something else, so I'm just gonna ask; each contact lights one bulb?   I would have guessed a thermal flasher to be honest.  I never had PW crossbucks, just the gates.

I have the one contact lock-on. Looks the same except the top blade isn't cut.  Funny, I never knew they existed until a few years ago. We always had isolated rails or pressure switches around here.  I knew of the Marx stick on rail trips so imediately knew what the lock-on was for, I just never saw one. (thats saying something for what I assume now was a fairly common piece)

I have an electric one and it weighs only about as much as a vacuum or I couldn't do it at all (still throws clear to the neighbors driveway... 60ft?)

I broke the (plastic) blade the other day on a paver that popped up a bit. My neighbor is doing mine for a bit . (I used to do thiers for years)

I painted an air cooled bug primer grey yesterday. I couldn't stand the awful dime store 80s graphics any longer. I always knew I would since the 80s, but sometime you gotta wait till the timing is right to address isues like that.

Wished my layout a Happy 3rd Anniversary!

It hasn't changed much in the past year but I've expanded my collection quite a bit since the beginning of 2018. Time to ease up on the credit cards and get back to work on finishing up some stuff.

Jim, the abutements are made out of some kind of foam so I should be able to cut them on the bandsaw easily. Today I got the legs mounted to the table andf the table bolted to the pother table. Mounted the strips to hold the Masonite in place. Got some smaller scraps of plywood for the ends of the table. Pics..........Paul

Looks good Paul!   I don't know what that big silver thing is that somebody keeps laying in your way!!  But I would fire them!! LOL The abutments on the Lionel bridge is plastic.   I cut mine with a jig saw lol

Mike.    I hope your rock mold turns out..  Last guy I saw talk about them started a rock mold project that he thought would take a few days.   Said it took him 6 months!!   Had an awesome outcome!  I may toss awesome around a bit but when I use it I mean it!  Glad you got your snow blower fixed.

The cake pictures are great Brian and Mike!   I want one for my birthday!  I will be Fifty...  Three lol

My layout is laying dormant.   Waiting for track.   Should be here tomorrow!

Does anyone know when Lionel started making scale cars??   Some of this stuff I have is HUGE! but all of it is from the late 80s and back.  There is a green giant car in the mix.  And well.   It is GIANT!!!

I think in the 1:50s and moden is the closest made, but letters to such a manufacturer might get a result?

or maybe at least provide a chassis for adapting another toy body to.

OK - who claims to own the roll of blue tape and the box of drywall screws....

Jim- that's a 12V Dewalt- probably about 25 years old. I have a 18V too that is a little newer. I bought new batteries for both a couple of years ago. The 12V was my upgrade from a Panasonic 12V cordless which was an upgrade from a 9V Makita pistol grip (I still have them too). They all saw heavy use in construction and renovation work (I'm a licensed electrician). Retired from that part of my life now and sitting behind a desk.

Morning guys! I hate to inform you that the first brick casting was an epic fail! Mixed up the hydro stuff, poured it into the mold and everything looked great! I let it set over night and when I went to check it this morning it still hadn't set up!

Come to find out from the wife that there are 2 different measuring units for dry product and water. She mixed up a batch and we will see how that turns out. I am not sure it is really going to matter cause this stuff has been sitting around for years. I got it free from the guy down the road!

I still have to read up on the 2 part mixture stuff I got and see if that will be easier for me to use!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
