Mike there were custom made by crescent locomotive works it’s based off a B&O tower in Halethorpe md were I used to live I sent him the drawings and pictures and he made it he also has sold some of them
we got between 3 to 5 inches of snow here last night... ready for Spring time !
9 inches of snow fell last night, but that didn't keep the cub scouts from working on the float.
2 more weeks until the parade. After that it becomes our Christmas lawn decoration.
Should be getting back to the layout as soon as the parade is over.
Once again? I’m glad we live just far enough from Lake Erie to miss the lake snow. We only had an inch, and it has only been flurries today.

The track cleaning car is a Trackman 2000. I bought it used for a good price at a train show. I also make my own TC cars. Short wheelbase cars, like cabooses, are best for tighter radius curves, but most any car can be used. Scotch Brite is the key ingredient. I try to run one of my home made cars on every consist. The Trackman 2000 is very heavy. I detailed how to do it several times here on OGR.
The hospital car is an Atlas that I bought new at Model Train Stuff. It’s ok, but I wish that it was an MTH. I like the way that MTH cars run on tubular track.Matt, Thank you for all the information. I have been thinking about building my own TC, just still tossing around the idea, Was thinking about using a flat car with adjustable set screws for down pressure! I will do a search for your post on building your own TC car!

Mike, I use Velcro to hold the Scotch Brite to a plate under the bottom of the car for easy off - easy on to clean Scotch Brite. A flat car is a good candidate. Plenty of Post War flats around for short money. You will need to add weights to the car in order to press the SB against the rails.

but IZZY wasn't too keen on going out in the snow...
so I just checked the camera at home to see what she is up too..

Today I worked on the backdrop arranging the different ones I had. After getting as far as I did I think I have to rethink the rest of what I am going to use to complete the backdrop to the panel box. The last one on the bottom is from Angie's trackside flats. I am leaning toward ordering more of them to finish off the bottom row. I basically have enough flats to finish the top portion. Tomorrow, weather permiting, I have a TCA lunch and after that a visit to the Ice House to see their two rail layout. Weatherman or person is calling for 1 to 3 inches tonight and 1 to 3 inches tomorrow morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they are wrong so I can go. Pics..............Paul 2

Mike G, All the O27 switches and track are in great shape. I got three O engines last week that don't like O27 at all. Two have a permanent home here. The Lionel 6-18304 Lackawanna Multiple-unit Commuter Cars will be for sale or trade soon. Any one wanna some Lackawanna? They just don't ring my bell.

Do y'all live in snow country on purpose? It is below freezing in Odenville, Alabama so I'm working on engines and tenders in the big house. I have been an automobile restorer and Kustom-izer for 46 years. I altered a prewar caboose and tender early this morning to better meet my desires. Easy now, they can be put back. My 2689W tender got postwar trucks so it can be an auxiliary tender for my LC+ 4501. My 2657 caboose got the lower trucks from the tender so it can ride behind my other prewar cars. For my next miracle, I will do a complete tune-up, oil change, and tire rotation on a prewar #1664 engine and a circa 1950 #736 Berkshire. My lovely bride has ice cream. I'll be back.
I added more flags and painted couple 34 f coal hopper cars.

Mike- I have this nondescript flat car with pipe that makes for a good track car. The side skirts on the car hold the pad firmly in place and the pipes are steel and give the car enough weight to do the job.

As recommenced by the experts here, it is a two-way transient suppressor diode across the track buss at the output terminals of the Z 1000 power brick. This is to protect the $$ electronics in the PS3 Sw1500 from voltage spikes. Don't want something bad happening to this:

Bill, I got Ya! My first attempt was with 054 and nothing I had liked it, so I had to go back, change my layout plan and go with 072. I replaced all the switches and curves so now I have a bunch of MTH ScaleTrax that I will be boxing up to sell or trade if anyone becomes interested! Enjoy the Ice Cream!

started as a 86 Chevy longbed, Z'd the frame 6", shorten'd 18", chop top next...
this was my last project, till one of my friends kept bugging me that he wanted it...
which turned into a handful of new "used" trains...

We live in snow country on purpose since we were born here. Now all all the elderly folks are still here, so we can’t leave. As long as both daughters are here, my wife would never leave.
The folks across the road stayed too long. Usually they are gone by now for the winter, but looks like they are leaving tomorrow since there was snow and ice all day today.
Mike- the car weighs 10 oz empty and 16 oz loaded.
Brain- very cool. Hope you get to finish this one. A good use of the funds from the last one though

Had a major panic attack... started everything up and was running 2 trains, then had a derailment, reset everything, and must have decided to try my second Cab 2 remote... wrong.... Apparently there is something wrong with it, so I lost an hour resetting everything, watching Mike Reagan videos on TMCC/Legacy and ZW-C transformers... Then I went down decided I'd better grab the other remote control and everything started working again..
Anyway, you'll want to use the Fast Forward button, got a little carried away trying to run the video camera and keep 2 trains running on the single main line.

John, Johan thanks very much. I was like a kid on Christmas morning.... Been working on this since my dad passed away 5 1/2 years ago, and my last completed layout before that was in Maine in 2004. Had kind of forgotten how great it is to be able to run the trains continuously.
I am going to get the other camera out and take some better quality (and shorter) video.

We had a dog, Sally, a German Shepherd and Beagle mix (very cute) who lived for 13 years (good life span for a dog), and then she passed on. So I keep asking my wife: Don't you think its time for us to get another dog? And she keeps answering: No, I already have an animal, you! LOL, Arnold

My wife let me get away with spending a lot of time on this scene this past weekend. She even pitched in on some detailing! I removed the bridges Friday after work and was able to reinstall them in time to run my “ Honoring Veterans” unit last night! Next up is water!
Jim, great work on this scene. You did a great job with the rock faces, blending the different elevations, putting in the road on curve and a grade, and the trees with the colors really pop! Can't wait to see it with the water done.

I will take some more video down at the end that I just finished building with the long grade and lift out gate. Truth be told, I haven't cut through the tracks yet, have to do some wiring and create a safe dead zone on either side for when the "bridge is out"....

Brian, Cool trucks. I've had my '55 Ford F-100 for more than 22 years. It was my first chop. After that, I chopped three '50 Merc's. Wish I still had one of them.
I understand that some of y'all choose to live in the cold cruel North. I was born up there. Can't you tell by my drawl. I worked in Syracuse, NY for three years. The best things to come out of New York are Lionel and me! Seeing Niagara Falls frozen was neat.
Okay. Here is what I finished today. I cleaned four whistle tenders inside and out. I did complete servicing on two old Lionel steamers. I took pictures and shot video as proof. And most importantly, I ate a half gallon of Banana Pudding ice cream! I have Mint Chocolate Chip to share with Brian's Izzy.
Someone has been in here before.
Mashed wire got fixed. Mismatched screws stayed.
Mr Greenberg said I didn't have to pull the motor out. He did not say the rear truck had to come off.
I like this part.
I'm going to call the prewar 1664 'Old Sparky.
It is 23F and dropping right now. Johan, how cold is it at your house?

I really like this and thank the wife for allowing you this time to create a beautiful scene and actually helping. Please share with us your rock work technique and also how you created your wonderful roads. As Chris said, can't wait to see when the clouds open up and unleash into the trenches. He actually didn't say it exactly like that but I'm sure you get the picture. Great work sir!
