Well, I finally installed my Miller Engineering signs after a very long delay. I had no excuses this time so they are up and running. They look pretty good during a night run by a Lionel Legacy fantasy Virginian SD70 ACE with a long freight.
Mike, I can see the video fine! The crane moves very nicely! Your retaining wall came out very well too!
I pondered my next move on the benchwork and ran a couple engines I hadn't run for a while.
Looks great, Mike!
The five hoppers are now done, for assembly. I'm going to give them a few days let everything dry, then paint, decals, weathering, and coupler installation. I had to do a lot of measuring and shimming of the coupler Pockets, but I think I got the height right for each type.

Eggcellent, Mike! The video works fine. Glad to see you have it working beautifully!
Thanks guys, I am glad you like the crane and concrete retaining wall.
OKHIKER, nice job on the Miller signs. I have a couple that run on batteries but would rather power them from ground power!
Mark, you should take tomorrow and run your trains all day! I understand that it makes it easier to ponder on life's big choices!
Lee, congrats on getting all 5 of them built! They sure are looking sharp!
Dave, I could do that as that is what I did when it was in the back of the layout. But I have this wild idea of trying to retrofit it to WIFI, I have some parts laying around and I just have to do some brain storming!
I know a lot of folks say don't mess with a icon like a Lionel crane, but you know what. Its my crane and my layout! LOL
I hope you all have a great night and an even better tomorrow!
I ran trains last night, and took some pics and videos with my iPhone

Paul, The floor looks great~! Bryan did a wonderful job~! Your track work is coming along nicely! But then again when doesn't it!
Eric, Nice job on the fence. Just wondering what your using for the curbing?
Lee, those look great1 They will be perfect on your layout!
Bob, I did do a test fit and bend test with the top rail installed before moving on.
So I did get a chance to get back out to the garage and train room today. I was able to finish the concrete wall, granted its no where near as nice as Chris A. But with what I had to work with I am happy. Here are a couple photos.
Oh and for Lew, I was able to get the crane travel system mounted along with a couple roller bearings to reduce the drag on the fishing line and the motor it self! Here are a couple photos of that.
and video for you Lew, I hope it works here, it plays on my phone but not my computer.
Pretty slick set up you have here. One can have alot of fun loading and unloading cars.Like scrap iron or pipes.
Bob Delbridge posted:Ran trains yesterday, all day. I then realized it had been since August 2019 that I had actually run any trains to any extent. The first engine (battery powered Williams/Samhongsa 2-8-2) I tried to use couldn't make it out of the yard so I had to back it up and hook up the charger. I have another battery powered 2-8-2 and that one ran fine. Later that evening I ran the freshly charged engine and it ran fine too. Had 1 derail because I forgot to throw a switch, my fault.
I need to get to work on detailing the layout, right now my scenes are like ghost towns.
Would that be the SAL Q3 steamer?Ugly but pretty powerful and had a boaster. And turned out to be a lot bigger than I first thought.Seen a picture of one in charlotte n.c.Their was a man standing beside it.
Spent the day putting Preiser 65602 Seated People that I painted into the first Canadian Pacific Coach #111. I am moving slowly, but have all figures now glued in place. Only the second coach #122 is left to finish.

Mike,
I use foam core posterboard for a lot of them. Easy to do curves. Straight sections I've used 1/8 backer board cut into strips.

Scott, thanks for the information!
Jim, I could see how it might take all day to clean tracks!
Looks like a very busy Saturday on everyone's layouts.
Mike G- I figured you checked that wall, it looks great on the layout, the crane looks great too.
Paul2, Mark, B&O Fan, John R, Lee D, Greg 08, Bill T, Richie C, Randy H- great work.
I got the base for my building set in place yesterday. I used plaster cloth to fill the height change, and painted the cloth with thinned joint compound to smooth it out.
Started on the loading dock too.

My son in law is a roofer, and I was able to get some rolled roofing. One side is gravel and the other is a peel off with adhesive. After cutting and installing I gave it 2 very thick coats of chalkboard paint to smooth out the surface. The first 2 pics are before painting the 3rd is after painting and the last has both area's. I left the parking area unpainted to give it a newer look. I believe it is available at Home Depot. The paint is rustoleum charcoal.

Mike, I believe it is 1/4 x 1 pvc composite from Home depot. I bought it awhile ago to use on a scratch oil tank set as a retaining wall. I cut it into 1/4 x 1/4 inch strips. Drilled tiny holes in it a nd secured it with 1" finish nails from an pneumatic air nailer. They are very thin and I had to separate them. Since I was going into homesote it wasn't a problem, If I was going into plywood I would have used shorter ones. I painted them with camo paint.

Stopped for lunch but got a lot more roadbed down. Heading back down to see if I can finish the last of it. One more section to do after this but I have to wait till I get another switch from Ross. Didn't order enough. Once that switch gets here I can add two sidings for hoppers next to the shed. Pics.............Paul 2

Paul are those background buildings printed? If so you really have to look hard to tell. I need some intel on where to aquire some
Lancer, my city backdrop is a hodge podge of buildings. They came from Trackside Scenery, Angie's Trackside flats, Scenic Express and from a friend of mine who has files of HO buildings. I went through some of his and found buildings I liked. He printed them out for me and I took them to a UPS store that could blow them up to O gauge..............Paul 2
Done for the day. Got all the roadbed glued down. Tomorrow I can paint the cork then I can start to lay track........Pics.....Paul 2

I liked how well the 1121’s worked on auxiliary voltage I went ahead and converted my other 7. Re-installed them on the layout this afternoon so I’m hoping to get a few wired up tonight. Also realized some of the holes I need to drill through the platform line up right with my LED strip lighting so I have to be extra cautious
I finished the last of seven Lionel Canadian Pacific 21" passenger cars today, putting people I painted into the second coach #122. I am glad the project is finished. I need to give my eyes a rest.
The first six cars look great going around the layout in the dark. I will close up the car and run it tonight.

As always, great job John...that's quite a stack of Preiser boxes in the background!
I wished Lionel would put people in there cars and provide a way to close couple them like Atlas has in there 21 inch cars.

Heh. She may LOOK lean and hungry, but she's well-fed and very solid. And fond of climbing on top of me while I sleep, purring loudly as I gasp for air.

I painted some Cowboys and Injuns and mused on scene possibilities, sans-actual Myan vampire figure. (I think Clix made some of the DtD#1 movie vamps) They still need another session or two of touch ups, but vastly better than semi opac red plastic. Detail on them is "muddy" too. (Also my first close up look... I can't really see what I've done until I take a photo anymore either )
Along with liking lots of extra voltage, I also found reversing polarity on the battery op loco allows it to still work, but without sounds (swapped fwd and rev switch positions.) So it seems adding a speaker wire switch might not be needed to quiet it down
This is gonna be "Old" Sheriff Bart (C. Little; Blazing Saddles )... needs way more orange mixed into the khaki and maybe removal of fingernail #11

Made more progress on the building yesterday. Site work is well underway, the foundation is laid and back-filled, and the ground cover is being spread out. I painted the stone on the bottom of the building the same color as the trim, was thinking about trying to simulate granite but changed my mind.
Finished the loading dock which was a time consuming process. Each post had to be measured and glued in place to match the terrain on the layout. (lather, rinse, repeat ), guess I could have sped up the process with hot glue instead of pva. I put a coat of stain on it last night.
I think I'm ready to dull-coat the building today....we'll see.

Bob, I really like the front steps and loading dock which really makes the building practical for loading and unloading cars. Looking through a car with open doors makes for a wonderful view! That is a nice looking stain in the last photograph!!
