What do I need??

Just bought my first DCC equipped steam engine (Bachman Spectrum Decapod) and I have a few questions. Being an old fart who never got into DCC I assume I can at least run it with my transformer but what would I need to buy to make this engine do it's thing that a DCC engine is supposed to do? I have no idea what to get or where to get it. Any suggestions??
