Has anyone heard any news on this Wabash F-3 AB set? Lionel claimed they were shipped out over a month ago and yet I've not heard of any dealer getting them in yet. What gives?

My dealer has them. M.b.Klein in baltimore has them on their website.
Good then -- that's progress. Thanks, Balto.
Are these conventional only, or Legacy? They look like conventional only, and for $429.00 for just an A-B unit? You can buy an entire F3 set in NYC or IC for that kind of money.

Why they did these again, I will never know. I have the PWC ones with the set and they are great! Lionel needs to bring back the Postwar MILWAUKEE ROAD F3 in either PWC or Conventional Classics, or whatever they call their postwar line now!

Yep, these (A-B set) are conventional only. And the pricing is a mystery.
I think the pricing for the new Marine Alco A and B units is even more of a mystery. Ridiculous prices considering the CC Rock Island Alco AA units are actually less money and are far superior in construction.
My guess it that the one the did in set form a few years ago represented the 0-27 engine. The latest Wabash F3 is numbered for the 1955 O gauge version.
I don't have a catalog in front of me but as I recall the set of freight cars (recently released with the Illinois Central engine) could have also been purchased in 1955 with a the Wabash engine. I don't know that for a fact, but as I poured over the months leading up to Christmas 1955, that was the impression I got.
I did get the F3 in 1955, but with passenger cars!

This is probably unlikely anytime soon, because Lionel recently did the Milw. Road F-3 Postwar version in their Legacy line.

They called those Milwaukee units "Postwar Scale". I have an A-B-A, they came out pretty nice.
I have the Milw. Postwar Scale F-3s, too, and I agree that they are nice units!

They might be the nicest F units I have.
