Looks like a Baldwin/Westinghouse box cab industrial switcher to me.
Seems to be marked "Foley Brothers."
The South Brooklyn Railway (part of the BMT subway) had a similar loco to handle some freight on its line.
Thanks Ed, were these gas electric or diesel?
Dusty they are Diesel, from what little i know, they are supposed to be one of the earliest diesel electrics.
That's now in Sacramento at the CSRM.
I guess that is why it was loaded on a flat car when I saw it.
I would guess this dates from the late 1920's. A similar loco by Ingersoll-Rand ( with actual assembly by ALCO ) for the Jersey Central in 1925 is usually credited with being the 1st of the type. It worked for many years, and is now preserved, tho I don't recall where. All of these look like box cab electrics sans pantographs to me. A credible model could be made using the Lionel 520 box cab electric.
Yes it was loaded on the flat car for it's trip down the Feather River Canyon to Sacramento.
Foley Bros. 110 is one of eleven GE 100 ton boxcabs built between 1928-1930. In 1928 GE took over the Alco/GE/IR boxcab line.

Dusty, it's was sitting in Portola Calif. at the Western Pacific Museum for a few years. I know it was headed for Sacramento and I guess it finally made it. It's a mess inside but the Sacto Shops will fix it up, I hope. Don
