If you remove post war diesel wheels yourself what tools are you using? Did someone make a custom tool for you? I have the Lionel ST-311 but it won't get behind the wheels on diesels.  I know some say use a hammer and punch but that is not what I want to do. Can you provide a pic of what you use?

jim sutter is right   get a cheap battery clamp/post puller  at local auto parts or harbor freight. break off the pad at end of center stem.  CAREFULLY grind it down to about 1/8 or 3/64"  works fine. if still have issues with puller blades, they can also be "finessed" with a bench grinder. this is what i use   it works.
