I heard he's working for MTH in the customer service dept.
Hey Bob, if you are referring to Lenny Dean, he passed away.
Lenny The Lion was a Lionel trade mark for a time. I believe he was named after the great Lenny Dean
Bob C.
Never heard of him....
Good question.
I thought I saw him with John Wayne and Elvis walking off into the sunset.
yep. that's Lenny alright

He went to the Dark Side with Spike...
Maybe that lion shootin' dentist from Minnesota got to him.
Pete

Still brave to be putting on any character outfit. Shin guards are almost a must
(watch you kids, even angels kick at character shins, and the little ones can't always be seen well at their feet That's why the characters are often escorted)
Lenny still attends many shows like WGH, National Lionel train day, warehouse sale, etc. I saw that Lionel actually sets up a photo booth at WGH shows for kids and parents to have their pictures taken w/ Lenny.
Yes, as Dave says above, he does attend train shows. We saw Lenny at the WGHOT show here in K.C. in March. He was in attendance both Sat. & Sun. Lenny was hanging out with the Lionel and LCCA folks (they had adjacent areas). I believe there was aa photo booth in their spaces for pictures with Lenny also, as Dave said above.
Just out of rehab for battling an addiction to smoke pellets and ozone.....He's a cool dude!
Lenny...
Still not half as creepy as the Bach Mann...
Bob, I can remember several years ago when you started referring to him as "Simba". That always used to crack me up!
yes I started to refer to Lionel in general as Simba. in fact Mr. Maddox liked the name
Bob C.
there is a Lenny the Lion stuffed animal for sale on he Lionel website
Bob C.
His wife caught him browsing the MTH website, and now he has to sleep in the garage.
This is why are wives don't go to that many train events with us!!!
LOL
Lionel may want to send a Lenny the lion suit to every city and stick a young person to visit the hobby shops around Christmas.
I heard he ran off with magnetta !
whippany posted:The Lionel Lion's original name (in the 1950's & '60's) was "Happy".
The "Happy" thing was something that appears to have been started by the LCCA in the early 2000's, but it isn't true.
The Lion didn't really have a name until the early 1990's when he was given the name "Lenny" with the release of the Lenny the Lion doll.

That's what I recall hearing too; up until then I heard he was simply called the Lionel Lion.
As a kid, I thought it was obvious his name was Lionel the lion.
The Lion is represented on my layout ith of string of these cool cylindrical hoppers...
They look great behind the Spirit of the Century F-units.
Everyone knows and loves Lenny.
Hi Guys
I need a good color photo of Lenny holding the Hudson engine.
Does anyone have one they can send to me.

On one of my visits to the Lionel Showroom in the early to mid 1950's, they gave out free Lion face masks. Do not recall if he had the name Lenny at that time. I remember my friend and me wearing ours on the Jamacia El ride back to Queens.
I saw him on TV this morning...he was trying to catch a few Zzzz's on the grass at the Central Park Zoo, and some flaky female wouldn't leave him alone. He sure looked puzzled...
