Looking to upgrade a Williams E7 with a passenger pilot and a diaphram. Wet to P&D but hard to tell what looks right and what will fit as there are no photos.
Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
RAY

P&D has them, if you are unsure, simply call them and tell the person what you are trying to up-grade. I used on of their enclosed from pilots for my Williams E7A lead unit.
Hey guys, how about giving me some more info on P&D or at least a emailing address, as I'm wanting to do the same with a pair of Williams E-7 L&N A units. I now have life in the dummy A unit, and would like to do what you guys did with the pilot and diaphram's..........................Thanks in Advance...............................Brandy!
Thanks Bob!......................
Ray, Hot Water is right, as I couldn't make anything out of their web site. I'll try a call tomorrow!.........................
Looks like if you go here, you can at least get a part number and price. P for pilot. They are alphabetical.

Check out the thread on detailing a CB&Q AtlasO F3 on the 2 rail forum. It has lots of info and photos about replacing the pilot with a straight one (a.k.a. Passenger pilot) from P&D.

Thanks for all the replies. I will give P&D a call. As for the pilots they have listed, all of them say for an "F" unit, not an "E". So does any know if the F pilot will match the E series engines and will they work on a Williams, which I know are not scale.
Don't want to do any major cutting and rebuilding of the E7 body to make the F pilot fit.

Here is the P&D "closed door" pilot on the front of my Williams E7A unit.

You will find item numbers and pictures of the items. Here is the picture of my finished pilot.

EMD E and F unit's shared alternative pilot design as customer options. Both straight and notched pilots could be found on E's and F's depending on railroad preferences and in some cases build lot. The first 2 PRR E7 A units had notched "freight pilots" while later orders were delivered with straight "passenger" ones.

I also used a P&D Hobby passenger pilot to affix onto a Lionel F3.

Don't want to do any major cutting and rebuilding of the E7 body to make the F pilot fit.
Ray, that may not be possible, depending on whether the anticlimber comes off your E7s or not AND whether the mating horizontal curves of the old and new pilots match. Look at Santaigo's or Mario's posts, it shows what you might have to do. Cutting the P&D pilot is fairly straight forward. making it match the curve may be a bit more work.

No need to cut the shell, if you trim the pilot. I easily trimmed the passenger pilot with a sharp pair of strong scissors. Also, I didn't have to change the curve of the pilot, as they matched nearly perfectly! Email me and I'll send you the little mounting frames that I made, no charge. I have extra...
