Ok so I have a Lionel Mikado JR. #1843. I used the smoke unit a lot and now I need to change the wick. What is their an alternative material I can use for wick? (Picture coming soon)

Hers the picture you may not be able to see it Togo’s Bessie I didn’t take the shell off but theirs a little brown black stringy part of the wick by the smoke units green wire.

Since I believe that's a mechanical puffer unit, you'll want something a bit flatter, you don't put much wick in those. Of course, the actual Lionel product number is always useful for stuff like this so we know what we're dealing with.
Yes it is a mechanical puffer. It uses dynachuff.
Could I also use that pink panther fiber glass? Not sure if you know what I’m talking about so here’s another picture. I have a lot of this.

It works, I think it chars a bit faster than the better wicks. However, it is a nice pad. I actually have the small roll of plumbing pipe wrap that I use if it fits the need.
Since you said it was a pad, would I need something else to put something over it or am I just good sign this?
All those had originally was a little fiberglass pad, so that would probably be sufficient.

Ok I might try to use this material so do I just take the pink stuff and just push it in their or is their a specific way of doing this?
