The 726 appears to have brass encased brushes while my 726RR has external springs. I’m having trouble finding a 726RR motor, or at least one I can justify the cost. If there is a clearance issue with the 726 encased brush assembly, could I swap It out with my 726RR Bakelite brush assembly?

The 726 came with many different motors...
Early 1946 2020M-1X
Later 1946 726M-41
1947-1949 671-M1
726RR 1952 - 681-100
I believe the 681-100 and 671-M1 may be interchangeable, but I should look through my stash of parts and my collection of locomotives to verify.
Only the 681-100 will work in a 726RR. It is the same motor that fits a 736 and 681.
Thanks for the responses guys. The part numbers were a great help and I was able to find an exact replacement, reasonably priced.
