I recently acquired an MTH 11006 crossing signal and want to wire it to my GarGraves track. After reading similar posts, I think all I need to do is connect the red wire to the center rail and the black to an outside rail. Is that about right?

You will need insulating pins in the out side rail for the area you want the flasher to work. I would connect the red wire to your acc'y voltage, about 14v, are you running a command setting???

Thanks, I think I'd overlooked the need to insulate the outer rails. I'm running both DCS and Legacy.
If you are running DCS and Legacy the voltage from the track might just be too high. Insulate an outer rail the length required for the look desired, attach the black wire to the insulated rail, attach the red wire to a fixed voltage of 10-14 volts. All my MTH signals and crossings have a separate power circuit and use insulated rails and relays for reliable operation.
If you are familiar with Gargraves track then you realize that all 3 rails are insulated from each other. All you need to do is add in some insulating pins from Gargraves and separate the section of outside rail you want use to activate the signal.
