Below are a couple of work in progress items. I didn't need a B&M caboose but.... I always liked this paint scheme and maybe someday I'll have an engine to pull it. I saw where another forum member created a B&M diesel by cutting up and rebuilding a 318, maybe I'll try that when I can get a 318 body. When this NH car is done I'll have a full train for my NH #8 to pull. Now all I need is to find a 514 refrigerator to repaint as an REA car or as a HOOD"s Milk.

I like that you painted the trim around the cupola windows and paint the cupola roof to match.

Nice Job Pete. I the B and M painted on or decals? Cant wait to see the passenger car done

The large BM was hand cut from white trim film. I found a logo on the internet and printed a template the right size and then hand cut the logo's, tedious but it does work.
As for things like the cupola frames being a different color I read an article in one of the model railroading magazines years ago titled ( i believe) Paint as a Detail. From that I realized you can take a fairly plain model and dress it up with simple little touches like this.
Very Nice
Here's a few more that are now done or almost done. With the addition of the baggage car painted for the NH I now have a complete Nh train for my #8 to pull, I baggage car, 2 pullmans , and an observation. The only incomplete part is one of the pullmans is missing doors and stairs. I can easily get the stairs but not sure about the doors. The red caboose is one I'm thinking about selling, does $65.00 plus shipping sound reasonable?

Very nice--I like it a lot!! How about a Maine Central caboose??
I could do a Maine Central I'd just have to use O scale decals.
Only problem with doing this or the B&M that I did is that we need a diesel engine to pull them. I wish Mikes would consider making us a tinplate GP-9. I think they could sell a lot. A GP-9 would go with their modern era boxcars and this would open up a whole new era of tinplate. Even just an SW series switcher would be a great addition,
Attached, if it works, is a video of my New Haven #8 powered passenger train. Next I need to work on the larger 300 series cars that I bought to go with the American Flyer 4654 that I painted in NH.

here's another work in progress. I needed a head end car for my passenger trains so I've been looking for a 500 series boxcar or refrigerator car. I found the boxcar first so this one is becoming an Railway Express Agency head end car. When I find a refrigerator I'll make a Hood's Milk car.
If anyone has an inexpensive 500 series refrigerator car they want to part with let me know.

Stunning looking 8e!!! You need to go into business refurbing std gauge. I know I would sign up for that treatment to my old 8e, she looks ok, but not that good! I also agree a tinplate GP9 would be really cool and tops on my "to be purchased" list. Definatly would open up a whole different era to model with tinplate std gauge trains. Or even a GP38-2. Mike
I finally got the time to finish my REA boxcar. I think it came out pretty good. I used an old set of O gauge Champion decals and painted it with Rustoleum Hunter Green. The clear coat is also a Rustoleum product that is made for us on automobiles. It provides a very hard super glossy clear coat that dries quickly.
