Your Layout Vignettes

Go Art Go..!!!  Beautiful layout and thanks for continuing to post in this thread.  Pictures like these can give many ideas to others on what is possible and what they can adapt to their current or planned layouts.

Minneapolis' iconic and beloved sign...

That is a really cool sign, Jon.  Is it located in the twin cities area?

I love well done water scenes.

Intermodal yards are tough to find enough space for even in HO.

Here is another picture of the yard.  I like the way that he handled the separation between the tracks in the back.  This is a common problem and to me it looks realistic.

I love this grain elevator complex.  The long curved switch in the foreground doesn't look too bad either.

As most of you know by now, I love grain elevators.

A layout can't have too many grain elevators in my opinion and when they look as good as these that is especially true.

And you have to have flour mills.

All chutes and metal work was hand soldered and copied from pictures of real elevators.  John is a master craftsman.

I haven't seen any models of center post irrigation systems before.

Yes, Art. It resides a bit upstream from the Stone Arch bridge, prototype for your bridge. The sign started life atop of the Marigold Ballroom in 1941, it depicts a 1938 design.

The above photo is from 1950 when the Marigold underwent it's final major remodel. The 50' wide, 40' tall sign was moved to the river, it's current location, and replaced with this...

It's current home on Nicolet Island facing west down Hennepin Ave. This view is looking East from the West bank, circa 1960s...

Again, looking East, form further West down Hennepin Ave, Great Northern Depot on the left...

The sign has been dark since the '96. Efforts are underway to secure funding for the 7-figure restoration.

I'd sure like to get a wall like that for my loop. Sweet.
