The new DZ-2500 Switch Machine offers slow speed switching from the pushbutton, TMCC CAB-1 remote, or DCS remote with the AIU. Just provide accessory power and ground to your DZ-2500 and to the DZ-2502 Remote pushbutton. Only one control wire is required to operate from the remote pushbutton. Using a DZ-2001, you can create a DATA WIRE that you run from your Command Base to anywhere on your layout (this creates a “data wire buss”) and then connect the DZ-2500 to it using only a single wire.

Will DZ-2001 work with Legacy also and how would you know if you are getting the new upgrade. Do you ask for DZ 2500c?

Thanks

the DZ-2001A has to have a modification done to it so when you order it let them know your going to use the legacy command system.

or if you have the TMCC command base doing nothing you can do as I did hook that data wire to it and use the cab-1 to do your switches.

your call as to which way better for you. $oo
Art, I control all of my Ross switches this way with Legacy. You simply plug the Data driver wire(DZ2001) into the command base, connect hot and ground and then the data wire to a bus wire on your layout, then jump the blue data wire from the switch machine to the bus. I cant remember specifically how to program them even though I just did it last week, but you basically hold down the button to throw the switch on the switch machine for like 4-5 seconds. The lights will blink rapidly, red green which indicates it is in program mode. On your cab-2 you then press switch, the number you want that switch to be, then set and the lights will flash slowly red green to indicate the switch has been programmed. Its pretty simple to do and its awesome throwing your switches from the Cab-2. Good luck.

I noticed you mentioned the need for only a single wire to connect the DZ 2500 to the AIU.  I connected both the blue and the white to the AIU as per the instructions and only the turn out button on the DCS Remote works.  The straight through button does not work.  The turn out button on the DCS Remote toggles the switch from straight through to turn out.  Is this the normal behaviour for the DCS Remote?

Ryan,

Art was saying the DZ-2500 can be controlled from an AIU, but the one wire connection is only between the DZ-2500 and DZ-2502.  You need two wires to the AIU.

From Z-Stuff's web site:  "For maximum compatibility with DCS and its AIU, the DZ-2500 has a special DCS compatibility mode. This permits the BLUE and WHITE wires to be used as THRU and OUT control wires respectively, when connected to the AIU, SC-2, ASC3000 or a DZ-1002 remote."

Thank you for the response.  I have the DZ-2500C.  What you have said all makes sense to me.   The route of my question is how the DCS Remote is reacting.   The THRU button does nothing and the OUT button when pressed changes the switch from OUT to THRU and when the OUT button is pressed a second time the switch changes THRU to OUT.  I wanted to know if this is normal behaviour?  It would seem to be that both the THRU and OUT buttons on the remote should work as depicted on the screen.

I'm just trying to determine what my next step should be.

Thanks

Thanks again - I didn't understand what you had told me.  I found the instructions on setting the DCS compatibility mode and it now works as expected.

Much appreciated

Ryan
