2 rail MTH Mohawk needs a little attention first

Joe, thanks for posting the pictures of your MTH 4-8-2. I have not seen the inside of a diecast steamer.

She runs well.

No smoke? The smoke motor was noisy. I pulled the impeller and added a drop of oil to the shaft. It spins good

I put it back together and smoke comes out the bottom. I blew down the stack but no good. I swapped the wires on the smoke fan as they were clearly swapped at the factory. I put it back together. Still smoke out the bottom. I've had it apart four times.

I will test the smoke unit on the bench and see what the problem is.

Yes. Road number 3149, also with the Worthington SA Feedwater System.

That’s an extremely hard locomotive to find in 2 rail Joe! …..nice find! …..they’re hard enough to find in 3 rail!

I have to get inside the engine and fix the smoke unit. I just got lazy after going inside a few times now.

It smoked correctly when it was apart on the bench.

Here's the issue:

I'm just losing interest and focus lately.

I have never seen a locomotive do that. Joe, is it possible something is blocking the smoke in the stack on the boiler? I figure you probably checked that already but just thought I would ask.

Doesn't hurt to ask. I test ran the engine and the smoke came out the bottom.

I noticed the factory wiring was reversed so I reversed it again thinking it ran backwards. I put the engine on the track and still not fixed. Then, I put the wiring back. I had the smoke unit on the bench and it worked correctly. I put it together again and it does this.

All I can guess is that the air flow is blocked enough by the wick (or something) and it blows out the bottom when installed in the engine. I'll figure it out, but I got tired of taking her apart 3 or 4 times.
