Lots 194-600: Part one of the Penn Union line HO collection. Built by the late John Romig. He was a lifelong model railroad aficionado, a man deeply and thoroughly invested in both the beauty and the accuracy of the models he built.
His earliest brass locomotive purchases were enhanced with his handcrafted custom detail work, meticulously improving each model’s detail with hand crafted brass parts, carefully researched paint and decal work and a thorough mechanical treatment to make the model run as well as they could be made to run.
The collection presented here spans his entire life’s work from those early pieces to the modern DCC models he appreciated for their attention to detail and realistic sounds and yet he continued until the very last years of his life to give a personal touch to almost every piece he acquired.
The rolling stock alone is incredible in its scope – hand built kits adorned with his paint and decal work, many of them with custom weathering, hand modeled loads or passenger details to add interest to the cars. Newer more detailed models almost always got upgraded trucks, couplers and tuning to make them run well.
This incredible collection features hundreds of brass models and modern plastic models upgraded with DCC and Tsunami sound. Hands down one of the most well rounded HO collections we have sold in recent years.
