Here is the Lionel #6468-25 Configuration A from 1956-1958 double door box car.

After all those locomotives, I think we need to remember that the NH had rolling stock too !

Very nice, Don. My brother’s first and only train included the 6468-25. I inherited the car since my brother is the Gomez Addams of the family In addition, I inherited my Aunt’s trains when she passed (they were supposedly my cousin’s, but he just got to watch them run ) which included a 6464-425.

Some additions for me in the New Haven realm.

To be fair, the top car may not be totally new, just new to this thread.  I've since swapped out the chassis with a two rail one so that it goes with the other four I have in this scheme.

Was always wanting this paint scheme to go with my FL9s and was lucky to pick up four recently.

I have another four GGD heavyweight coaches in New Haven that I have not photographed that are in two rail.   I also just recently purchased the GGD observation, diner, and head end set from this forum.  They are three rail but will be converted to two rail.  I have lots of donors in other road names I want in three rail.  Confused?  So am I!

New Haven Alco RS-3 #527 is a Railking model (30-2897-1) of a classic first generation diesel in its original orange and dark green paint scheme as delivered to the New Haven Railroad in 1950. Shown pulling three New Haven boxcars and caboose C-667 on my 10’-by-5’ layout. Boxcars prototypical with script heralds.

I acquired a 4 coach set of GGD New Haven heavyweights that arrived today with the intention of re-lettering them 'PULLMAN' to run with a couple of Hudsons. They are so pretty and to my surprise they have 4 wheel trucks. Jonathan (GG1 4877)gave me a good explanation as to why some cars have 4 and others have the handsome 6 wheel trucks to carry more weight as found in sleepers and diners.

Remembering that I have a K-Line scale EP5 and caboose, I pulled them and will run them with the 4 coaches and probably a REA Reefer for a high speed NH passenger train.

MrMuffin did a custom run of MTH Alco PA diesels (2 road numbers) in their original New Haven orange/green/silver-stripe paint scheme during 2024. I looked at his website and there is at least one A-unit still available at a good price.

1st off, from someone who grew up near it, thanks for spelling Worcester correctly!! LOL.  Now as for the NH moving milk to Worcester MA you say?  There is not much published info on moving milk on the NYNH but indeed it happened.  The NH would have picked up Bellows Falls bottled milk from the B&M interchange in Worcester and transported it to the First National Stores warehouse in Providence RI. They also moved Hood's from Portland ME via the B&M Worc exchange as well.  Pre-war freight descriptions indicate milk was moved on NYNH's Providence and Worcester branch freight's such as WP3 and WP5 however milk was also moved via the State of Maine passenger train which was a joint NYNH and B&M train from GCT to/from Portland ME.

Truth be told; I wanted to post the NH F units with more than just NH. @MELGAR had posted similar milk reefers with B&M. I brought up a NH map looking at the Northern most points. Then I brought up B&M information and saw that B&M interchanged at Worcester MA. So I made up my train with NH, B&M, Brookside & Riverside, B&A, St of M, and AMCX (AMOSKEAG Mfr. Manchester, NH.

Thank you, good article.  I like the green and yellow scheme as most locomotives have been done in the McGinnis red/white/black scheme.  Really looking forward to MrMuffins's FAs in orange and dark green.  Would be nice to have the FAs done in the green/yellow scheme at some point.

I recently found these NH photos in my prints. They were processed in 1993. A friend asked me to go rail fanning with him up to New Haven. I wasn't much into Metro North or Amtrak. We were standing in the parking lot of the station, when out of the corner of my eye I saw Orange and Black. I went running to the fence. I had to shoot over it. He couldn't understand my excitement. I tried looking up Metro North and New Haven rosters. I couldn't find this engine # 257.IMG_4838IMG_4839

Metro-North #257 is a GP38. Atlas made HO models of #253 and #257 in 2014. The models are 10 001 700 and 10 001 701.

The corrugated building in your middle photo houses the New Haven wheel mill.  I don't recall this particular locomotive but GP38s ran on Metro-North in Connecticut. Some were rebuilt and became Brookfield BL20GH.

The train in your photo may have been heading to Stamford, CT.

Thanks for the update MELGAR; I saw the BL20GH designation but wasn't aware of the updates.

Photo and video show New Haven EP-5 #371 electric motor running through the truss bridge on the O-54 loop of my 12’-by-8’ layout. This was the first model (20-2195-1) of a New Haven electric offered by MTH and was produced in the McGinnis red-black-white scheme with PS1 in 1999. It’s been running on my layout with a BCR since then.

EP-5s began service between New York City and New Haven in 1955 and hauled modern stainless-steel passenger cars as shown in the consist in the video.

The truss bridges on my layout resemble those on the New Haven Line that carry the tracks across the Housatonic River between Stratford and Milford, Connecticut.

Mel,

Are those pinstripes silver? Mr. Muffins is running some Alco FA units by lionel and the color plan is showing “white” for the pinstripes.

I wish my layout had a greater presence of NH...my early memories and experiences go back to the New York, New Haven & Hartford of the 50's and 60's, Santa Fe took the number one standing on the layout, with the warbonnet color scheme of the early days.  Both great "lines" in their hayday!

Photo and video show my model of New Haven EP-3 electric #0360 (20-5631-1) on the north curve of my 12’-by-8’ layout.  New Haven’s ten EP-3s were built by General Electric in 1931 and hauled heavyweight passenger cars and “American Flyer” lightweight steel cars in the 1940s and ‘50s. The EP-3s were retired by 1961.

With a K-Line EP-5 or one of a couple of Baldwin Model Loco Works EP-3s to haul it. All are two-rail.

I do have a K-Line EP-5 in three-rail also, it has operated (quite well in conventional, btw) on a friend's DCS-controlled layout far from home rails , his layout is based on Chessie System in and around Baltimore.

This New Haven whistle marker has been on my front lawn since the early 80's. It resided on the New Haven Maybrook line until that track was pulled up. During the time things were being demolished, something hit this marker and snapped it off and it was laying along side the gutted right-of-way. I was on a sales call down in the Newburg NY area and when we went over the Maybrook line that morning, just beyond the western side of the bridge, we noticed a train pulling up the rails. On our return late in the day, we investigated some of what had been done and discovered the marker snapped off and lying in the weeds. It weighed a lot and another sales rep and myself struggled to get it in my car. I can only imagine the multitude of engines it signaled to whistle. Its a great reminder of the railroad I grew up seeing and that got me so interested in railroads.
